The Reality Vortex: Red Reputations

Eleki's body started to violently shake and melt under the highly concentrated amount of negative energy pouring from him. The cracks that littered his body started to break apart, showing that he was ready to burst. The energy seemed to gravitate small things, like twigs and pebbles, towards the body where they immediately vaporized. As the body continued to have convulsions, it released several powerful pulses of energy, pushing the group to the ground. The body started to blink slowly but gradually pick up the pace, indicating it was getting closer to exploding. Less than a minute probably remained. The floating head remained calm and placid despite the timer ticking down to their doom.

Avalon's eyes stared at the body and he looked back at the others. The horrible feeling of guilt and regret piled upon him, still feeling responsible for leading the Breakers to this place. His shoulders slumped and his ears lowered. Now was not a good time to be depressed but the fact that they were in a corner with no possible escape, Avalon felt responsible. The ninja began to block out everyone's voice, ignoring what the King had to say and Lucifer's remarks made things worse for him.

...What a stupid question to ask, Avalon. The elf thought to himself, frowning. I guess Talis was right... I'm just not good enough... I'm really not cut out to help anyone... All I end up doing is making a mockery of those I try to help... It's all my fault... I'm... not...useful...

"Veh-gee-toe..?" The Red King said, trying to repeat the Fusion's name. "It sounds odd. I will be sure to remember it and dig up anything relating to that name. If you truly are a Breaker, I will know." Vegetto's threat perked an eyebrow on Eleki. "In person? You wish to impress me? ...Ah yes, you have that 'spirit' phenomenon humans are known to showcase! Very well, I will send even more Xy'phers to hunt you all down relentlessly as well as enhance this Berserker's sister with more powers. This battle will be studied and analyzed by my servants, so your tricks won't work twice. My, such a valiant suggestion, Veh-Gee-Toe. "

The body behind the floating head started to crack with black electricity and the pull of the energy was getting stronger and stronger. It was almost pulling all the Breakers towards the highly compressed negative energy. The Xy'phers dug their feet into the dirt, staying still, listening to their king, and awaiting doom. The area around them started to distort and shift colors. Everything that wasn't strong enough to fight the pull was dragged in. Trees and debris were flung at high speeds towards the body and instantly vaporized, adding more fuel to the explosion. The decapitated head seemed aloof of the danger around him, as did the Xy'phers.

However, as Lucifer spoke, the head peered up towards the Vortex Moon, indicative of the Angel's question.

"Vortex...Moon..? Is that what that is?" He looked up, seemingly in awe. "There are more up there? ...Interesting. Please, tell me more, child."

But there was no time! The body started to succumb to the intense gravity and pressure that the energy gave off. A dome of solid black energy surrounded the body and started to expand. It was not rapid but anything it touched was instantly turned to dust. It continued to expand until it completely overtook Eleki's head, shattering it and rendering it to ash, unable to hear Lucifer's answer. At most, only a few seconds remained until the massive explosion engulfed the city. The dome started to float and became a sphere that continued to expand, getting faster and faster as it came closer to exploding.

"I guess... it's the end huh?" Avalon said in a low tone, watching the sphere get closer to him and the Breakers. He refused to move, his depression slowly taking over him. "This is... how it ends. I'm... sorry, Breakers..."

Vegetto kept his confident smirk throughout the Red King’s ominous warning; his expression giving no quarter to the looming threat that amplified from his own taunting. The confident nature of his expression acted like a wall in the face of challenge; almost as if the man had something to hide under his boasts.

“Try your best, and when we’ve finished beating them, you’re next.”

His head snapped up and turned to Cayde, his narrowed eyes quickly returning while he broke out into a sprint towards the group.

“Now Cayde!!”

Cayde nodded curtly, hurriedly running over to the group.

“Alright everyone! I hope everyone’s ok with invading personal spaces; time to hold hands and love each other!”

The android rapidly forced each and every Breaker to hold hands or touch one another while the King addressed Lucifer’s question. Gogeta yelped in being forced to hold hands with Bage and Beserk; Cayde working to grasp onto to Avalon’s arm.

“Alright, we’re all set! Do the thing!”

Vegetto landed in front of the group, grasping onto Cayde’s shoulder and raising two fingers to his forehead. Gogeta’s eyes widened, leaning out and nearly breaking the circle with a heavy shout.

“Wait!!”

The man grimaced, his left foot reaching out and touching Spina’s chest just in time for the entire group including the other unconscious fighters to vanish into thin air.

Unknown Tundra

The light snowfall was the first sensations the Breakers could feel again as the group landed in an open field of white snow. The entire plain led up towards a set of mountains, and the only object present was a small metal pole stuck in the ground. A bright white light illuminated at the top; the energy signature vastly similar to Cayde’s for those who could sense energy.

Standing in about four inches of snow, Vegetto shook his head as he recovered with a light sigh. Cayde gasped, glancing around for a moment before sarcastically speaking.

“Well, that could’ve gone better. Threatening the guy who leads an entire zombified city isn’t the smartest thing you’ve done.”

Vegetto frowned; an uncharacteristic spaz in his expression as he childishly groaned back at Cayde in a manner more akin to his counterpart that watched on in confusion.

“How was I supposed to know he’d take it that personally?!”

Cayde grabbed the sides of his mechanical head, throwing his arms down and stamping in the snow.

“You were taunting him!! You even told him your name!! How else was he supposed to take it?!”

He groaned.

“Gah, then you made it even worse by taunting him again! You could’ve just stopped!”

Vegetto crossed his arms, scowling slightly in a small pout and glancing to the side.

“No I couldn’t! If I showed him I was scared, he would’ve taken that as a win! At least now he might be intimidated and might not come after us!”

His expression lightened slightly, turning to the others.

“Whatever. It’ll take him awhile to find us anyway. Is everyone alright?”

Brachi, Bara and Jize blinked as they were forced to connect with each other and the others and by extension Cayde, before Vegetto transported the entire group away. Taking a moment to look around the area initially, noting the mountain area up ahead as well as the snow around them on the ground, they sighed of relief, before turning to Vegetto and Cayde.

"In all honesty, we've had better days. Thank you for getting us out of there." Brachi said, smiling, before crouching down for a moment.

"We're all pretty much drained of energy because of what Rota had done to us," Jize said, "it will take some time before we have at least enough energy back to be in decent fighting condition.

Bara tilted her head at Cayde, evidently curious at him, staring at him with her innocent-looking eyes.

Cross reserves a message form unknown messenger "You have a lot of business that needs your direct involvement added to the fact of the hole stability problem." Cross sends back to unknown messenger "both points are fair since the hole Hart thing I have been a bit off on top of the new abilities and I gest I have been neglecting some tasks that do need my direct involvement." Unknown messenger sends "Do give them context Cross. I not shore I speaking to the lich after all."

Cross thinks rubbing his head "everything till now is a bluer and something tells me I going to need to rethink a lot things. First thing is first."  Cross asks "were are we?"

On seeing Vegetto says "long time no see Vegetto."

As the group landed on the snow, Avalon gasped at the technique Vegetto used. He was used to moving around using his scroll and other ninjutsu techniques but this one baffled his mind. Even so, his depression was still strong. The snow at his feet made him remember the gentle snowfall of his home. He cupped a small amount of snow in his hands and lifted it up before letting it fall from between his fingers.

"I'm fine..." Avalon answered Vegetto before turning to face the Breakers, his frown returning.

The tips of Zenta's tails dragged across the snow and it wasn't long until the beast was stirring in Bara's arms. Low rumbles and pouts came from the creature until he slowly lifted his head. His ears slumped and his hair stuck to his visor. He seemed entirely lost and confused as to what happened and where they are. However, after a few more seconds of collecting information, he wiggled free from Bara's grasp and plopped on the snow.

"What the hell... it's cold..." He managed to mumble to himself before turning back to see the Breakers. He coughed before clearing his throat and slowly rising to his feet. "Ugh..."

Zenta's fur was still soaking wet despite the group being away from the rain for a while. He seemed annoyed that his fur dripped with water, especially his tails. It was evident that he was not a fan of getting his fur wet. The cold winds did not make things better for him and he groaned in annoyance at his minor inconvenience. However, he took a step back for just a brief moment and plopped himself on all fours. Although he was usually very collected and proper, his animalistic instincts were still strong. He shook his body furiously to shake off the water from his fur just like a dog, spraying water around him. He did this twice before finally rising up on his two legs.

"...Pardon me." He blushed. "I... don't like wet fur. ...And the worst is yet to come..."

"Looks like Zenta is awake..." Avalon said quietly. "That's some good news, at least."

"Where are we..? Where is Lady Bernkastel?" Zenta said towards the others before turning his head to Vegetto. He tilted his head, barely remembering him. "You seem... vaguely familiar."

“I supposed this is better than that dreadful rain. But now my suit and shoes are ruined and I’m cold. In need for new clothing now, and a place for warmth.” Lucifer narrowed his eyes after seeing that the King seemingly was unaware of the contents surrounding Vortex Moon. A slight smirk arose from his face, trying his best to hold in his laughter. Mumbling to himself as Lilith left Bara, as she slithered throughout the snow and coiled herself around Lucifer’s neck. “Ah, I’m glad you are safe, Lilith. It’ll be a pain if you were turned into a Vortex Coin, or worse, one of those things.” He’d gently touch her head. He’d turned around, not seemingly familiar with this place.

“Yes… what is this place.” He said after hearing Cross and Zenta questioned their new location. He turned to Vegetto and Cayde, focusing on the metal pole sticking out, with white energy illuminating from the top.

Spina fell straight through the snow. In comparison to Zenta and Bernkastel, who look unconscious, the old Saiyan appeared to be lifeless. His pupils were greyed out, his body limped around with no sense of strength behind it—practically dead.

He turned his head slightly after seeing Spina’s body fell through the snow. “Hmm?”

"To be honest I'll feel a lot better after some rest," Bage replied with a sigh, dusting off his now ruined button-up shirt. "Besides, we've got a lot to unpack from what was just told to us."

Bage turned once he heard Zenta awaken, chuckling secretly at the way his fur puffed up. It was nice to see these lighthearted moments between the group again. It gave the detective a sense of security from the danger they had just faced. But soon he was brought back to reality once he finally noticed Spina faced down in the snow. Bage gasped lightly once he realized and carefully lifted the leader of the Breakers over his shoulder. He approached Vegetto and Cayde. "If you don't mind me asking, you have somewhere to take us out here, right?"

While Vegetto and Cayde went back and forth about his exchange with the King, Berserk let go of Gogeta's hand and placed her arms behind her head. Realizing that all of what happened was apparently going to be used against them and probably re-played at the Xypher base, Berserk whistled an idle tune to pretend she didn't insult the entire army as a whole. "O-oh, hey, big guy, you're finally up!"

She chuckled lightly to herself watching Zenta wring the water off himself, but that amusement faded quickly realizing she'd have to give him the bad news. "Yeah, things didn't work out too well. We were this close--" Berserk pinched two fingers togehter, "-- to getting sucked into a weird reverse explosion and dying from a Dark Crystal bomb inside that Elite! I thought we were goners for sure, but these guys were able to get us out just in time! We didn't end up leaving anyone behind either, that was crazy lucky!" She didn't think too deeply about the way things fell into place so neatly, as she was more ecstatic just to have gotten away alive. "Oh, you should have seen how Mr. Veg moved when he-- oh wait you can't. Well, I couldn't catch what he did either but it was SO cool! Burncastle can't be too far."

Off by a few yards from the group, Bernkastel laid motionlessly, having landed in a snow drift. The sudden sensation caused her to quietly groan a bit before her eyes opening slightly and seeing nothing but white. Snowflakes stuck to her hair and dusted her cheeks, stirring her further out of sleep. Fighting the stiffness of her limbs, Bern slowly sat straight up, snow sliding off her head when she turned towards the voices. Nobody was missing-- they had regrouped at some point when she wasn't awake, though what drew her attention more was how that happened. Two more people than before were present and bickering, one looked and sounded like a stranger but the other was familiar to her.

Bernkastel's expression first showed grogginess but her eyes widened resting on Vegetto for a moment. Thinking she was hallucinating, Bern rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked once more. Although it had been 3 years since the Breakers saw Vegetto in person, Bern felt a vague sense of deja-vu from his presence alone. Like this wasn't really the first time they had crossed paths after so long.

"Ve... Vegetto?"

Vegetto nodded curtly to Brachi and Cross, a form of greeting without directly speaking the words. He paused for a moment in Zenta’s comment, yet remained silent with his head turning to the side at the sound of Bernkastel’s voice. His eyes widened, and he froze for a moment once Bernkastel came into view and also finished speaking his name.

Oh shit...hello, Bernkastel.”

He promptly coughed into his right gloved hand, maintaining a quick reaction and nodding towards the mountain.

“We can talk more on the way, everyone. Follow me; I have a place we can all stay at.”

Vegetto quickly turned on his heel before specifically Bernkastel could address him further.

Cayde and Gogeta both yelped together as Zenta unleashed the water from his fur in shaking. The android patted himself down promptly while Gogeta shivered a bit, but the fusion rapidly turned his attention to Vegetto as the latter began to trudge his way up the snowy plain. Gogeta smiled contently to himself and remained silent in following after him.

Vegetto led the group further up the mountain, but to the others, not much about the environment looked very hospitable. The further they followed Vegetto, the further from actual safety it looked like they were going. Yet Vegetto kept a calm demeanor, his tone flat while he spoke out loudly.

“It’s a shame what happened to the apartment. I would’ve liked to have visited it one last time...although we left on bad terms, I must say I only have positive memories of that place. Memories I would’ve liked to feel now more than ever.”

He cleared his throat, eventually coming to a halt in the middle of the climb and standing in the middle of nowhere. A winter storm had seemingly rolled in; the artic chill and pellets of snow hitting the group without remorse or mercy. Vegetto, despite wearing short sleeves, show no signs of chill or shaking in the cold; his dual voice ringing out once more to finally answer Bage and Lucifer.

“It matters not; we can rebuild it one day, hopefully. For now, you can find safety in what’s kept me busy for the last couple of years.”

Cayde moved off to the left of the group, kneeling down and fiddling in the snow with some unseen object to the Breakers. After a few seconds, the entire snow storm suddenly vanished and died down with an instant; a strange warmth sweeping over the snowy land and warming the Breakers as a whole. Vegetto gently reached out in front of him, his white gloved hand pressing lightly onto an invisible wall. Upon feeling the unseen lock from the other side, Vegetto’s lips rose into a warm smile. A massive wooden door suddenly appeared due to an invisible cloak that had masked everything receding away. Immense stone and metal walls alike rose from the ground; having been placed there the entire time. The entire emptiness of space on the mountain began to be taken up by larger buildings of what could easily be deduced as a small town; a faint sound of voices on the other side.

Vegetto turned his head back to the others, a genuine gleam in his eyes as he spoke while pressing the doors open for the Breakers.

“Welcome...to Rogue City.”

The rural, yet lively town opened up to a maze of city streets in front of the Breakers. The air was warm and comfortable in comparison to cold the Breakers felt moments before. The average hustle and bustle of normal, plain folk going about their lives filled the air. No technology or advanced systems in sight; the villages gave off a quaint air to them like an old Japanese village. Shopkeepers could be seen bartering with customers that stood at their stalls, many people walked about wearing simple garb. Yet despite the lack of advanced society norms in play, people around that moved to and from place to place in front of the Breakers seemed...happy. A welcome world away from the strange world that was the Reality Vortex; the group moving through the city street as others closed the gates behind them.

"It's certainly no Reality Metropolis...but it's been my home."

Cayde shrugged his shoulders.

"Meh, to each their own. I like my little technology cave up in the main tower, and manning all of the gadgets that keep this place hidden."

He glanced to the side, smacking his metal lips together with a happy grin shortly after.

"But our ramen shops are the best in the entire Vortex. First round's my treat; you're gonna love the way they steam the noodles."

Cayde pulled his extended fingers together, blowing a kiss like a chef.

"Mwahh! Perfection!~"

However, as the two finished their statements and before the others could respond, the group came in front of another band of five men standing in a small line in front of them. Each one of the humanoid figures wore garb similar to a warrior; their advanced armor and technology lining their gear standing out in the otherwise simple city atmosphere. Each one held a different face, but all had a look of disappointment or displeasure at the sight of Vegetto standing with the Breakers.

One in particular spoke up with a heavy scowl of anger, his voice a clear reflection of it.

"I thought you said you were going to finish the Breakers."

Vegetto kept his smile, yet his eyes narrowed slightly.

"I never said anything of the sort, Brask. Do yourself a favor here, and calm down."

The command did little to ease the man; in fact, it only further fueled his firey temper in erupting into a profane shout as soon as Vegetto finished speaking.

"Are you fucking kidding me?! After everything they've done, you think we're just gonna fucking stand here and let them smash us like Metropolis?! No fucking way!"

Cayde loudly whistled to himself, glancing to the side while Brask threw out his right arm in pointing at the Breakers.

"All of you damn ass clowns; get the hell out of our city! Or face true, righteous and unyielding fucking justice!"

Cross as he traveled with the group to "Rouge City", casts a levitate spell to aid Bage, Spina and Bernkastel. Cross thinks "I have some things to take care of before teleport to get fix and do do some tasks only I can do." Cross seeing Avalon and the state of mind that Avalon in says trying to help Avalon "Avalon you need to keep in mind that failure is apart of life but it's how we grow form it in the end matters. Do keep in mind we do have all eternity and more to grow."

Cross thinks seeing some his underlings all over the city he thinks "I defiantly going to have to leave the group." Cross says "The Red King dos plan to everyone in the vertex apart of its forces. The fact that we seen it first hand happen both the aftermath and it actually happening. I will need to leave the group to get a better grasp on what been going on and on top that I not that stable in terms of my powers. Before I do part I think we have more pressing things than this." Cross thinks "Its best not to make the worried about my state of mind. I have some pride in being an overlord after all."

Cross seeing that Spina's condition was worst than every one else says "Sorry Vegetto but we don't have time." Cross says using a spell "kneel" forcing Brask to in fact kneel in form them and Brask could not move. Cross says "now were is this Medical facility, Vegetto?"
