Spina narrowed his eyes after Cuki answered his question regarding her mysterious display of strength. “Right,” Spina responded. He looked away from Cuki when she mentioned the name “Kai”. “Someone from my world. She’s a good friend.”
Looking at his hands, and seeing the blood dripped from his dirty palms, the old Saiyan turned to Cuki. “Back in my world, the Saiyans were an aggressive race. We fought, destroy and ravage worlds of our choosing. We were effectively relish with glee and delight of lording our strength over lesser beings that drives that battle lust. And just as quickly, we crumbled when anyone has even a out of power higher than we put out. It is no wonder that the Saiyans submit to Freeza and eventually succumbed to his genocide. But I… I did not care about that. I live for battle—it drives me. I do not care about lording my power—I wanted to get a taste of a good battle where I can feel my body being pressed on death’s door. So, I went on a rampage, destroying everything in sight in hopes of a good fight. And when I heard the Saiyans were gone, I was free to do as I please if I pretend to perish along with them and kept a low profile.”
Spina stared at his right hand. “Planet after planet, all of them were no match of I what I consider a good fight. Challenging Freeza was a little high for me back then… until I came across this planet home of humanoid water creatures. Weak, submissive species upon my first meeting with them. Yet, in battle—they were monstrous. No matter what I did, they knocked me down. Their strongest warrior, Kai, was a formidable foe. A worthy opponent, a steppingstone to soothe my battle lust. I gave everything I got, but she beat me into submission. Accepting death, I was ready for the final blow, but she… showed me mercy. She told me that I was already beaten. Continuing this battle is now pointless.”
The old Saiyan smiled. “Back then, I didn’t understand that. Mercy? How can anyone just an opponent lived like that? What if I got up and attack her from behind? But Kai… she showed me that battle is not about fighting to the death. It should be fun…. As times went on, I remained on that planet and challenge her very time, but it all end at the same way, and never delivered the final blow. As time passes, I was encompassed by her empathy and mercy. And eventually, when I was ready to challenge her again, but she invited me for a sparring match. From there… she taught me her moves, her techniques and her strength and weaknesses. When I questioned her why she would give me such information that I could easily used against her. You know what she said to me?” Spina turned to Cuki. “You don't always win your battles, but it's good to know you fought. That what she said to me.”
“Years passed, then a couple of grunts from Freeza’s force came to the planet and started thrashing the place. None of them were a match, and Kai was barely holding her own against them. I did not care too much about building relationships, but something compel me to jump into the battle and defend them. I too, was clearly outmatch. When I see Kai, a worthy opponent who no longer able to fight back about to get killed, I went into a fury. My first transformation of Super Saiyan. I easily defeated them and just about to finished them off. But I saw Kai, and the idea of mercy popped into my head. I let them go, and they never returned. Mercy… Kai taught me that. It is why I was desperate to returned home 3 years ago. But now, I don’t sense her anywhere.”
Unknown to Spina, his aggressive efforts to suppress his malicious side had turned into a consequence. The mental block of his desire for battle prevent his true power from ever coming out. Yet, in the moment of extreme emotions, Spina’s Saiyan blood boils and his lust for an epic battle comes out, in which, his true display of strength will be awakened. Seeing Gogeta’s actions, Cuki’s ruthless, and the overall personality had started to slowly tear away Spina’s mental block. A beast that shapes the Super Saiyan legend is on the verge of letting loose.
“Since then, I put a check on my malicious to abide by her teachings. So, seeing Gogeta fight like that… reminds me of myself when I was younger, and I got a bit carried away.” Spina turned to Cuki.
Hart raised a brow, with sweat drops dripping down her face after Panich outpaced her. “Well, thank you for being honorable to apologize. I’m sure you probably aren’t associated with the Breakers as of late and got caught up in their nonsense.” She took a deep breath, seeing that she does not technically recognized her on the name basis. “Listen, you should—” Before she can finish her thought, Avalon barged in the conversation and demanded information about the Coin Hunter. “Uh, excuse me? Who are you? And why do you think I have any information about the Coin Hunter?” Hart jumped back a few feet to create some distance between herself and them.
Detective Goku narrowed his eyes, turning to Captain Broly.
“…. What?” Captain Broly uttered, but before he could respond, Bernkastel, Cross and Lucifer had already left the premise.
Lucifer chuckled. “Well, I did not know that… don’t you think that’s a bit cruel to rely such information on them like that?” The small angel smiled.
