Something is off about this place... The way the courtyard looked to Vala put her off. She took a step forward but stopped as the shadows that draped over the courtyard began to twist and morph before them.
"What the?" Vala held her staff in front of her defensively. "Company." She said with a scowl.

Excalik positioned himself in a defensive stance. "I suggest you take your leave, little one." He said, placing his hand onto the sword.

Allein charged a demon blast and merged it with her Blood sword to increase its strength.

"Sadly not undead." Gold said as he ran forward, swinging at the shadows with his hammer.
"I will provide assistance~" Z-Clone floated behind Excalik and began to use her pencil to draw something out of thin air. It seems to be temporary plates of armor for the group to use.
"Please use this armor as you see fit~ It will disappear once danger has disappeared~"

"Then let's do this." Vala's crescent staff glowed purple as the shadows began to contort into ghoulish figures, screeching at them at high pitches before beginning to swipe at them at great speeds.
One barely missed Vala, who promptly smacked it with her staff, only to temporarily dissipate its form before it reformed again.
"Looks like we can't touch them solidly but they can." She grit her teeth. "Look out!"
The shadowy ghouls attacked in pairs, one aiming to force their opponent into defense as the other attacked from the defense's blind spot. One screeched into Vala's ears, making her drop the staff and be forced onto her knees from the painful frequency. "Aah!" She shakily grabbed the staff and aimed it at her assailant, casting a flashing spell to temporarily incapacitate it. "Hit them when you can distract them!"

Gold cast a healing spell of light that blinded anything look at him, and promptly smacked a shadow creature with his hammer.

"R-right!" Excalik shouted. His body began to formed a bright-blue aura around him. "Speed Cutter!" Excalik's body turned into a blur as he moved towards the ghouls, cutting them down. "I hope my speed is fast enough for him to unable to react!"
Z-Clone took a hold of her pencil and slid it across the ground almost as if she was lighting up a match. The pointed tip of her pencil caught on fire for only a little while and she attempted to hit the shadows with her fire tip.
