The Reality Vortex: The Black Rose

At the new arrival, Cayde watched on from the back. His mechanical eyes widened immediately once the doppelganger had revealed her face to the Breakers; his tone low.

"Oh....shit."

He glanced between both Bernkastel and her new doppelganger, his fear and bewilderment growing in tandem.

"There are two Burn Castles?!"

Whis, however, stood like stone as the new Bernkastel spoke to him. He steeled himself in silence, naturally raising his senses in preparation for danger at the arrival of the source behind the Dark Energy before; the second student, Sinister Bernkastel. The angel stared down at her with the same, disappointed stare he gave Spina moments earlier; a resignation in his tone.

"Yes...I suppose so. I dreamed that perhaps, we could achieve something meaningful together...but you are right. My pain and strife, as you put it...has no reward. I can no longer neglect the truth."

The angel's eyes stared down and met hers; a coldness and plain voice replacing the emotional tone he spoke with.

"There is simply no world where you can exist. For the greater good of all...you must perish."

Vegetto Black's eyes widened at such a harrowing and damning ultimatum that Whis spoke, caught offguard that he would say such a thing even after all that had transpired between the three. However, his eyes instantly narrowed into a glare; frustration and rage building on behalf of his friend.

"Alright, you're dead for that one."

Yet before he could lunge forward, Spina had burst through the wall and appeared. Vegetto Black looked on in apathy, meeting Spina's stare briefly before the older Saiyan promptly unleashed devastating blasts of energy. Vegetto Black had tensed at the sight, but quickly formed a devilish smirk as the intense energy blasted forth towards all of the occupants in the room.

In an instant, the doppelganger's energy flourished into a massive wave of pressure; dwarfing the immediate sensation from the man just seconds ago. Ki soured within the being at an unrealistic, unfathomable rate as Vegetto Black bolted forward, throwing out his left arm and summoning a destructive blade of pure, red ki around his forearm. The Spirit Sword bristled and glinted to life as he deftly threw his arm forward, stabbing into the first energy blast he could find.

Like skewering a ball on a spike, Vegetto Black stabbed a blast and suddenly slashed to his right, sending the blast spiralling towards Brachi and her friends. The doppelganger, however, did not stop there. He blitzed forward, his eyes moving like a machine while he danced through the arena and slapped each and every single attack Spina shot forward towards the gathered Breakers. Cayde drew at his holster, but the attacks from both Spina and the redirection from Vegetto Black were too fast for the android to keep pace; creating a massive explosion where he flew backwards threw a nearby wall.

Vegetto Black kept his devilish smirk, his eyes turning to Sinister Bernkastel in the millisecond of a pause.

"Deal with the dog (Spina). I'll take care of the rest!"

Boss Battle: The Duo

Survival Chance: ???

The betrayed students have finally arrived! The unknown anomalies, Vegetto Black and Sinister Bernkastel, seek to stomp you out of existence. Meet their challenge, and end their threat. Defeat means certain coin status.

Within an instant, Vegetto Black had landed directly in front of Whis first. His hands flew forward, deftly striking at the taller angel in a quick barrage. Whis managed to anticipate the incoming strikes, and even parried the first three punches aimed at his chest. Yet as he tried to keep pace with Vegetto Black, it was clear that the doppelganger's immense speed and power only rose while Whis struggled to fend off the superior agility and power.

Vegetto Black chuckled darkly while he overwhelmed the taller angel, eventually punching through a forearm guard made by the angel in an effort to block the blow and sending the angel tumbling backwards. His eyes shifted, however, locking onto Zenta next as the closest target in proximity.

The doppelganger jumped forward, throwing out his fists one at a time in a quick set of jabs at the beast's torso. A simple, controlled and specific strikes on the target.

In the opening display of the battle, you see the element of Vegetto Black's strange ambiance shift fully. His power flares and wanes in an unnatural manner to a fighter; seemingly matching the exact power opposing him in the moment and rising ever so slightly to overcome it. Perfect management of neccessary strength and energy, while the man's moves are nearly robotic in how calculated they are in each movement.

As he struck out at Zenta, so too did the poised strikes feel specifically designed for a future goal in Vegetto Black's mind. Yet as you sense his energy rise to match Zenta's perfectly, as well as slightly overcome it, you can tell the powerhouse is still similar to the original Potara fusion. His strength rises in tandem with his ki; a powerful Saiyan warrior still seemingly bound to the sources of strength of his universe.

But most importantly: susceptible to ki blocking or energy destruction techniques.

A series of scattered energy blasts erupted into violent explosions upon impact, destroying the foundation of the restaurant. Soon after, everything around them started to collapse.

Daiman landed outside after being flung prior by Spina’s entrance. “Ouch…” He looked around and noticed a severe lack of people around. As if the entire city became a deserted ghost town. “W-what?” He look on and saw Cayde laying there on the ground. Running towards him, Daiman attempts to wake up. “Hey, are you alright?!”

Spina clenched his fists tightly, completely ignoring the Breakers’ safety nor made any attempts to aid them with Vegetto Black attacking them. He shifted his focus on Sinister Bernkastel only. He blasted forward and leap into the sky, attacking the Red Witch with a powerful drop-kick against her stomach to drive her away from the others.

Victor says, "Apparently we do not need to worry about anyone else being affected by our fight."

The creature is ready to fight. Victor thinks "How best to aide these kids."

The rabbit witch's head whipped back and forth between the Bernkastels, just like Cayde's. She was surprised now that Veggie Man had a twin and Bernie now had a long-lost sister, too! "I spoke too soon... Bernie, you didn't tell me you had an estranged family member. She may look like you but no one can replace my champion!" She stated innocently as she placed her hand on the short-haired Bernkastel's head and Asher's shoulder.

"Bound round hare, Bun-bun br'er!" With the small chant, a small veil of magic with little rabbit ears surrounded Bernkastel and Asher before disappearing. Unknown to the two, Coella had placed a temporary shield on the two smaller fighters. "There!"

The witch's head swiveled toward the door debris flying everywhere. Slowly the dust cleared to reveal Spina had entered the fray. Coella's ears perked up and she let out a squeal in excitement to see that her other champion had returned. The party was really starting now! With a quick scan of her surroundings, she abruptly dodged the batted blasts while moving Bernkastel and Asher to her rhythm, so the two could avoid them as well. As Vegetto Black kept his attention on Zenta, she got an idea.

"I'll be right back, Bernie! Wish me luck!" She leaned over to Bernkastel before her broom came and whisked her away toward Vegetto black at a breakneck speed.

“Kettles, I didn’t know you had an evil twin sister! Hope you don’t mind if I bonk her head!”

Asher felt the magical aura from Coella’s spell and felt invigorated! His tail whipped back and forth from excitement, and he was ready to enjoy the fight. As Coella quickly pulled Asher and Bernkastel to safety, he watched the Bunny witch fly off towards his grandfather. He spun his Ruyi Bang expertly and deflected any stray blasts from Spina from getting closer to him and Bernkastel.

“Just between you and me, Kettles, I think short hair works better on you!” Asher said with a laugh, his rainbow eyes shining with glee. He gave Bernkastel a slap on the back, unintentionally being a bit rough with her.

Asher quickly glanced at Avalon and gave him a thumb up.

“Avalon! Let’s tag team!”

Without much choice in the matter, Avalon nodded, following the youngster into the heat of battle. Asher provided cover for Avalon by deflecting Spina’s energy blasts away from him and the Breakers. He flung back Spina’s blasts, giving Brachi and her friends an opening. Asher laughed, seeing the fight as a game, something to have fun with, and not quite taking it seriously.

Avalon, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes at Sinister Bernkastel, unsure of what to think of the doppelganger. The pressure of her presence was what he felt the entire time, this time stronger.

Is that a clone or someone from her universe? Avalon said to himself. She looks sorta different? Her hair is longer, I guess? No, it just… doesn’t feel right.

Avalon bit his lip before looking over at Asher, watching the youngster run towards Vegetto Black and his grandfather. The ninja gasped, realizing the kid was going to jump into a battle beyond his scope, and, perhaps, hinder Zenta. On top of that, he worried that Zenta might go crazy again and attack his own grandson.

“Wait, kid! Uhm, let’s do some sort of combo move!” Avalon pleaded, narrowly grabbing Asher’s attention.

“A combo move? Hell yeah! I wanna fight that Pineapple Clone and show Grandpa that I’m totally ready to kick some—!”

But you gotta listen to me! You wanna help your grandpa, right? Just follow my lead or else you’ll get in his way!”

Zenta sensed an entirely new presence in the room. Although he was unable to see, the pressure in the room caught his attention. His face turned in the direction of Sinister Bernkastel. The voice and smell were almost identical to the Bernkastel he recognized, but he knew it was a different person entirely. Only when Spina barged in, guns blazing, did he realize something.

The pressure is the same? Zenta tilted his head. The same pressure coming from Spina is coming from the imposter. Is it possible that they both harbor Dark energy? Is that what attracted Spina back to the restaurant…?

However, before Zenta can evaluate the two, he felt a powerful set of jabs against his torso, hardly having time to block it. The beast flung back, his heels stuck to the ground and creating a long trail of broken ground beneath his feet. His back slammed against the wall, making a crater in his shape, followed by a cloud of dust and debris. Zenta remained on the wall, unmoving, as he silently processed the information he gathered.

Those hits were not wild as what I’ve seen from Vegetto… They were controlled and precise strikes. Could it be...?

Zenta stepped out of the crater and flexed his chest before holding out his hands to create wisps of energy from the tips of his fingers. He wrote something in the air in an entirely different language.

“Ah…” Zenta frowned slightly, as if disappointed. “If you wish to learn, then I can teach you the fundamentals, hm?”

Zenta gave Vegetto Black a friendly smile, taking a few steps closer to him before disappearing from view. The beast appeared behind Vegetto Black, his palms glowing their traditional white color before focusing the energy near his fingertips. With a single, precise motion, Vegetto Black felt two soft jabs against the back of his shoulders followed by his Gi being blown off from the front of his shoulders. The numbness began to creep on Vegetto Black’s shoulders, slowly sinking down his arms.

“You are definitely more elegant than the other one, that is for sure.” Zenta nodded, tapping his chin comedically. “I am not a fan of the other Vegetto’s fighting style, it is too, ah, what is the word…? Unrefined? Unpolished? Needless to say, I like the way we… dance.”

However, before Zenta could do any more damage, his fur stood up on ends as he quickly jumped back, seeing water tendrils wrap around Vegetto Black’s ankles.

“Get him, kid!”

Avalon yelled out as he held his scroll to the ground, being the source of the water tendrils. Asher was in the air, holding his Ruyi Bang high up and ready to slam it down on Vegetto Black.

“Ruyi Bang! Grow!” Asher ordered.

The Ruyi Bang became larger, so large that it almost dwarfed Asher by comparison, breaking the restaurant’s roof apart and destroying it further. Following the destruction was Asher’s child-like laugh as the shadow of Ruyi Bang loomed over Vegetto Black, ready to slam onto him.

Zenta’s ears perked up from worry, hearing, and fearing, his overzealous grandson fight a foe stronger than him. He let his guard entirely down, focused entirely on Asher.

“Asher, wait, stop!”

Sinister Bernkastel's smirk stiffened to Whis's curt dismissal of her, tightening her grip on the umbrella with white knuckles while Vegetto Black's agitation flared up for the both of them. "I thought as much... then in that case, this cesspool has no further use for you." The Red Witch moved to prepare an attack until the entrance collapsed into flying debris behind her.

Reacting quickly to Spina's ambush, she snapped the umbrella shut and swiped it in one smooth arc through the air, exerting a red aura into the umbrella that collided with the ki blasts that would have otherwise hit her, fragmenting them into tiny pieces. Sinister Bernkastel looked over her shoulder to meet Spina's eyes. "There you are, little gadfly!" The murderous intent within arose immediately as her expression twisting with sadistic anticipation.

Thanks to Spina's immediate follow-up, the Red Witch was forcibly sent flying beyond the range of the restaurant's remains. She leaned further to sink an arm into the ground, deep marks goring the ground as she skidded further back while coughing up flecks of blood. "Hmph... Not bad, meathead. This is fine; I'd like to grind down that scum's hope down to nothing before I snuff out his worthless life!" Sinister Bern chuckled fiendishly under the intense downpour, lifting her umbrella to the sky while the clouds lit up intermittently before a thick stream of lightning emerged. She closed the distance and came into view once the flash died down, streams of lightning following the metallic tip of her umbrella before she drove it into his glowing eye. "Why don't I start by scrambling your brains?!"

========

"Jumping in all at once might be a bad idea, even if they're split up right now," Mooli said to Victor. "Maybe we should tag-switch with each other so there's room for people to recover if this guy wears somebody out. Daiman and Cayde seem safe for now, but..." Seeing that Vegetto Black was surrounded, she used a quick burst of speed to get to Whis; it was clear to her he couldn't continue fighting. "You need to get to a healer pronto. I'm tapping you out!"

====

"Wait, I don't have--" Bernkastel was cut off by Coella and Asher diving onto the battlefield, leaving her to stand alone in the rain thinking of what to do.

But I can't dive in recklessly to help Spina, that girl's pressure is too much even for me... and he might block me out completely if I try to meddle. The way Spina looked at her earlier, and now this. Bern shook her head and slapped her temples to snap herself out of it. I can't get distracted! I should find an opening somewhere... She closed her eyes and covered her ears to drown out the overstimulation until reaching Clear Mind, allowing her to assess the battle properly. Interfering would sabotage Asher, but she was concerned V. Black was still too mobile with so much room below the Ruyi Bang even at that size.

Due to the spell Coella gave her, she positioned herself in front of Zenta and cast a summoning spell of her own to help further immobilize Vegetto Black. "Rondo of Black Cats."

Several wild cats emerged from her shadow, pairs of glimmering eyes clustering together to form different sized felines; some house cats and bobcats biting onto the man's arms with one the size of a jaguar that pounced from the front to aim its jaws at his neck.

"Quickly, we need to stay on the move in case Asher ends up in a pinch!"

Vegetto Black gasped audibly once Zenta had appeared behind him, sauntering forward and nearly falling forward at the hip from the shocking impact. His back still turned to Zenta, with his face hidden from view after the devastating strike.

Yet the phenomenon of Zenta's strike did not extend beyond the initial impact as expected. The strikes, designed to immobilize the chains of systems involved in the intricate movements of the muscles and limbs, normally would incapacitate an individual because of the rippling effect on the chain from a key strikepoint. Even more so, as the magical cats lunged forth and sunk their fangs into Vegetto Black's arms and neck in what would normally be a clean kill

However, the strange sensation from Vegetto Black's body morphed and shifted unnaturally. As if the biological cells themselves had a mind of their own, and had shifted entirely to not only block, but resist the effects of the potent attacks. The cats would feel as if their teeth had sunk into stone, while Zenta's pinpointed exploitation of Vegetto Black's pressure points slammed into the body like a rock hitting water, only for the rock to be spit out by the water itself. The muscles, the nerves and cells themselves having completely hardened and blocked the damage from progressing any further; protecting Vegetto Black's ki.

Vegetto Black's head slowly turned to his left, a more devilish smirk having formed while he stared up at Zenta with an amused chuckle in seeing the beast distracted at Asher's overzealous attack. With the immobilizing effort against him having failed, Vegetto Black rapidly swung out with his left elbow and slammed it into the side of Zenta's temple, clocking him in another blow that sent the beast flying.

He twirled his body around after swinging his elbow into Zenta, spinning around and immediately vaporizing the watery tendrils binding his feet with a colossal surge of fire, while flinging the various cats latched onto him around like ragdolls. As Coella entered the fray, Vegetto Black had already spun into an elegant roundhouse kick, punting the rabbit witch and her broom with a heavy blow before she could even engage the doppelganger. Each move, once again, chained after another in a calculated effort to dismantle their battle plan. Vegetto Black then rapidly brandished his ominous, pink Spirit Sword with his right hand while he glared down at the cats still digging their teeth into his limbs and neck.

Slashing the cats in jagged, brutal cuts while using his free hand to pull pieces of their bodies away, Vegetto Black effectively tore the summoned beasts apart and let their maimed corpses drop to the ground before blasting upwards into the air. He closed the gap to Asher in an instant, and his eyes never once lifted to even prepare or worry about the immense Ruyi Bang looming over the two now. The pure aura from the boy's laughter and naivety in a thrill for battle immediately dwindled in Vegetto Black's presence; the gravity of the situation unraveling into the worst case scenario.

The eyes and confident smirk that stared into Asher's were not of an opponent recognizing a worthy challenge or sharing in the joy of battle. There was no element of restraint or sportsmanship at play as Asher had experienced with the other Breakers and even opponents in the tournament. A true murderer loomed over Asher now, intending to end the boy's existence here and now. The murderous energy mounted within the doppelganger, and Vegetto Black lunged for an immediate killing blow on the boy; slashing down in an attempt to cut Asher in half from the shoulder to the hip.

Daiman's efforts successfully raised Cayde, who groaned audibly and shook his head. The android gathered himself to his senses, rising up onto one knee and glancing back over to Daiman with a small nod.

"Thanks for the save kid."

He reached down and scooped up his hand cannon, doing his best to take in the situation with Vegetto Black and Sinister Bernkastel; unaware of the haunting notion that the entire town had become empty once the duo had arrived.

"Listen, I know you're packing a lot more firepower than you let on and right now...we're gonna need all of it. Tell me what you need to get a good shot in on those two, and I'll set it up for you."

Whis blinked once as he was whisked away by Mooli, but dismissively waved her off.

"No...no healer."

The angel forced the two to stop with a simply extension of his arm, a commanding shove that halted the two in place. He then sunk down and gradually rested on the ground; an unrefined and strange appearance foreign to the normal perception of Whis as he sprawled outwards and laid back on the ground.

"Just...give me a moment to rest."

Whis' face was hidden slightly as he laid back, but a small light hearted chuckle escaped his lips if Mooli did not see his warm expression.

"But I would welcome your efforts to return the favor, and have you protect me this time."

Victor says, " You have a point Mooli but the little guy behind can be used as support." As those fighting the breakers start to since they are somewhat weakened (you all can determent that).

Victor says as he summons a wolf "attack wend you see an opportunity." The wolf seems to vanish into the shadows.

Zenta tilted his head, caught off guard by Vegetto Black’s resistance to his attack. Normally, it would work against people who rely on ki, but it felt as if he hit a wall. The initial shock of it caught him with an elbow to the face before being flung back. He crashed into the remaining wall left of the restaurant, slowly pulling himself out of the pile and shaking the debris off his fur like any canine would. However, his attention quickly shifted to the instant Vegetto Black closed the gap on his grandson. In that very moment, Zenta’s blood ran cold.

Avalon saw how Zenta’s attack had no effect on Vegetto Black. Just like the beast, he was also shocked and caught off guard.

Was Zenta unlucky? Did he miss?! No way. He always hits… What the hell is going on?

Before Avalon could gather any more information, his water tendrils instantly evaporated from Vegetto’s legs like nothing. He saw that Vegetto Black had his eyes locked onto Asher, so he quickly tried to intervene. He performed more hand signs and summoned more water tendrils from the ground, each one trying to latch onto Vegetto. The water was burning up the moment it touched Vegetto Black. Avalon even tried to put up a wall made of water, but it was quickly destroyed as Vegetto Black approached Asher.

Before Asher could realize what attacked his grandfather, Vegetto Black was upon him. His eyes hardly registered the man’s presence, and when he did, he was startled by how quick Vegetto Black was. The immense pressure Vegetto Black’s aura gave off easily overwhelmed the youngster, his innocent and carefree laugh instantly silenced by the sinister wave of energy. His brain was quick to realize the danger he was in, but his body was not fast enough.

To Asher, all he saw was the terrorizing smirk of a man with the sole intent to kill him. His heart pounded against his chest and his rainbow eyes flickered with fear. He was stuck swinging his Ruyi Bang, unable to stop himself and avoid the incoming sword slash. The only thing he was able to do was release his Ruyi Bang and desperately attempt to block. All semblance of joy and innocence was gone from the boy, replaced by pure and unfiltered fear.

“Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap…!” Avalon gasped, quickly running towards Asher, throwing his scroll to summon his paper falcon. Even if Avalon was a second or two faster, he knew he would not be able to save Asher on time. “Kid! Move!”

As Vegetto Black sliced his sword down, a cloud of dust and debris flew out and the Ruyi Bang instantly shrunk back to normal size, falling to the ground. Blood splattered on the floor, pooling around a standing figure in the dust. Only when the dust settled did the carnage come to light. Standing before Asher was Zenta, arms out in a protective stance between his grandson and Vegetto Black. From his shoulder to his hip, he had the sword slash Vegetto Black meant to deliver to Asher. Blood gushed and oozed out of Zenta rapidly, staining his pristine white fur.

"You... bastard..."

Zenta snarled at Vegetto Black, his face showing nothing but hostility, a pressure that matched his own. A murderous intent. However, before Zenta could do anything, his body gave out, falling backwards from the devastating wound. Behind him, perfectly safe, and without a scratch on him, was Asher. Asher’s eyes widened as he saw his grandfather collapse, bleeding profusely at his feet.

“Grandpa…?” Asher said softly before the realization hit him like a truck. “G-Grandpa?! Grandpa?!

Asher gasped, looking up at Vegetto Black, his grandfather’s blood on his energy sword and splattered on his gi. This was no friendly sparring match, no regulated tournament, this man was out to kill him and everyone else. Asher was frozen with fear, unable to grasp the reality of what he witnessed.

Then, suddenly, Asher was quickly scooped up by Avalon who rode on his paper falcon, narrowly saving Cuki’s son. Zenta, barely conscious, was limp in the falcon’s talons. The paper falcon could not hold onto Zenta without hurting him, so it dropped the beast near Bernkastel. His condition was bad, leaving him unable to fight for the rest of the battle from a split-second decision that resulted in him taking a lethal blow that would have killed Asher.

Avalon knew that, at least near Bernkastel, Zenta could be safe. In the meanwhile, he held onto Asher, placing him behind him. For now, he tried to distract Vegetto Black so he couldn’t attack the vulnerable Zenta. With some quick hand signs, he summoned some clones who all rushed at Vegetto Black, flinging water shuriken at him. Those shuriken multiplied to several hundreds, trying to overwhelm him.

“She’s fast.” Spina widened his eyes in surprise when Sinister closed the gap between them. The umbrella jabbing through his eye, with the tip coming out through the back of his head, resulting in a jolt of lightning surging through head and body.

“Ahhh…” Hot steam poured out his mouth and was seemingly knocked out—briefly. He woke up moments later and grabbed the umbrella. Pulling out of his head away from it; chunks of flesh were falling out from the gaping hole on the left side of his eye.

“What are you…” Spina spoke as he shoves in his dangling eye back in place as it slowly heals around it. “You’re no sister of the Witch… no, you’re something else…” The old Saiyan smiled as the blood seeped through his teeth. “Flowing Strike! Instant Slayer!” Using his free hand, water engulfed his fingers as he struck multiple times against her stomach. Pushing her back, the Saiyan gave chase. “Flowing Strike! Water Fist!”

Channeling his energy into both his hands, Spina slammed his fists against her body one after another, tossing the doppelganger through buildings across the empty Beach City. “What are you!” He shouted for an answer.

===

“H-huh?!” Daiman was taken aback by Cayde’s request. The last thing he wanted is to take participation in something that he had no involvement in. “I should’ve just left…” He thought to himself, but it’s too late to back out now.

“Y-yes, I just need a good moment to prepare. I only-only have one shot at this.” Daiman said. “Keep’em… dis-distracted, and I’ll tr-try to hit them! Or… one of them… somehow. Hopefully. Maybe. Possibly…”
