The Reality Vortex: The Black Rose

Brachi grunted as Spina slammed into her, while he held onto his face, she tried to get him off of her.

"Hey! What is the- what is happening to your face? Did that bullet contain some form of acid?!" Brachi inquired, hopping back as she was not sure what to make of this, and Bara on her turn sped towards Brachi in kind, though she was hesitant at using her own magic, as she feared it was being nullified once more while she had the best intention with it: healing any of her friends and allies...

“Did the Witch scrambled your brain as well Angel? I never said that the Creator Gods created Dark Energy. I specifically said that they created these Yowls, but the latter do not consider them as their parent.” Battler paused for a second. “Let me break it down that even a god’s slop juggler like you can understand: Creator Gods, unknowingly, made dolls, bodies, husks, whatever term you preferred for the world. They lost their “ownership” the moment it was built.”

Upon Whis suggesting that they should work together and find the one behind it, Battler scoffed it off, followed by a hearty chuckle. “No.” He answered in the harshest tone possible. “I’ve seen your work, Angel. Taking in a Yowl of the Witch despite supposedly knowing the dangers, then turned tail when it was too much for you?”

The detective raised his finger, not waiting for Whis to give a reply. “You imprinted that thing, and because its not tied to your leg like a leech, you must’ve pissed it off. I bet now it cannot think other than destroying you. And that is what hastened their evolution further to become a literal walking bomb. Red Objective.”

The weight of Whis’ scepter instantly increased so dramatically that it pulled the angel down to the floor, forming a crater upon impact. “You don’t want to work together. You want a janitor for the mess you made. Red Objective.” The temperature on jagged rocks across the crater increased, turning into a literal explosive firepit that engulfed it. Mushroom clouds hurled towards the sky from the explosive firestorm that resulted from it.

Battler turned his head towards the Breakers. “Enough talk. Alex, take them out.”

“Shut up, this is nothing.” Spina said to Brachi as bits of his face kept peeling off. “Worry about you own damn self.”

Alex touched the base of her gun, transforming the weapon into a blade. “Javelin Rain!” She shouted, swinging her blade to launch energized pillars of light towards Bernkastel, Spina, Vegetto, Brachi, Dielec and Zenta.

Once Vegetto-Black expressed his approval, Kassava was over the moon. “Yay!” She quickly rushed to the man and gave a quick peck on his cheek. “Thank you!” She quickly grabbed Sinister’s hand and headed inside the clothing store.

“Welcome—” The clerk running the store covered his mouth when Kassava entered. “W-welcome to the shop! K-kassava, what brings you here today?” He strained his throat while pressing a panic button underneath his register counter.

“I’m looking for something that brings out the beauty of my lovely daughter!” She grabbed Sinister’s cheeks and squished them. “The one she has now is a total wreck, you know! Do you have something that can do that?” She seems to take quick comfort as a role of a mother.

“Of course! You can look around. In fact, everything is free! You can pick out anything and I won’t charge you for it! Just, uh, don’t kill me please. I don’t work for Darkseid!!!”

Kassava held out a big smile despite the fear on Clerk’s face. “Thanks~” She drag Sinister all over the store to find that perfect outfit for her. “No, no. Not that.” Kassava uttered to herself. “We need something that says “Bernkastel!”. Something that will make people think of you.”

Suddenly, she frowns as her tone shifted to a rather depressing tone. “Something that can define you, and only you. So, no one can take that away.” Quickly, her sadness vanished as she faced Sinister with a bright smile. “Right?”

Whis frowned immediately at Battler's hostile tone as soon as he addressed the angel, but blinked in surprise at the sudden shift in weight on his scepter. The angel collapsed to the floor at the sudden effect, seemingly unable to release his grip on the scepter due to Battler's power. However, before the angel was engulfed, Cayde quickly pulled out his hand cannon and aimed it directly at the scepter's orb. A loud shot rang out, a flaming bullet tearing through the air, and the ball on the scepter immediately shattered.

Whis pulled his arm back, finally able to release his own scepter, before being engulfed in the firestorm that erupted all around him into the air. The flames died down shortly after, and as the smoke billowed up, Whis emerged out from the other side. His tall body was litered with scratches and small burn marks on his robe, but he floated back towards the group mostly unharmed thanks to a white shield of energy coating his entire body.

The angel landed with the others, letting out a disappointed sigh.

"Perhaps I should've chosen my words more carefully. I didn't think the detective would be caught up on semantics."

Yet as soon as Whis finished speaking his thought, Alex's energized pillars shot forward. Cayde pulled up his gun once again, fanning the pin on the back while flames engulfed his body.

Three shots tore through the air with loud, thunderous booms, golden energy meeting Alex's pillars head on and destroying them in a massive collision. The beams of light heading towards Zenta, Bernkastel, and Dielec were destroyed; the gunslinger having only enough ammo to deal with those three and promptly reaching for his belt line to reload.

Vegetto grunted, bolting through the sky next and dashing immediately towards Alex first. He cocked his right fist back, launching forward and closing the gap to her in an instant; hurling it forward towards her face once he was within range.

Federation City

Vegetto Black couldn't help by tremble and nearly recoil at the pair of lips pecking his cheek, yet forced a warm smile through as he pretended to enjoy Yowl Kassava's company once they entered the store. He watched on silently and careful, his stare only lifting from Sinister Bernkastel once the two had disappeared in search of the proper dress.

Yet once the pair were out of earshot, Vegetto Black walked towards the counter that the host stood at with a confident smirk. His eyes stared the man down like a predator, confident and amused at the man's bumbling fear of Yowl Kassava. The doppelganger reached out slowly over the counter, his gloved hand gliding over the piece of the furniture where the button he had pressed moments ago was.

Vegetto Black's fingers then pierced through the surface, and the doppelganger tore the entire small section of the desk up from the countertop. He placed it down in front of the host, the ripped metal and button clearly visible while resting on the table top as Vegetto Black spoke with a firm, threatening and demanding tone behind the cocky smirk.

"Who did you call?"

Coella smiled, patting Damian on his other shoulder eagerly to get his attention, making sure to speak in a whisper.

"The others have the right idea! We should use this opportunity to get to the lab, don't you think, Dimo?"

As much as she wanted to stay by Spina and Bernkastel's sides, the witch decided to let Damian lead her for now.

Zenta’s ears flicked, noting every word Battler said. The existence of ‘Creator Gods’ send a nasty shiver up his spine, but he brushed past it. Then, again, Battler said the same phrase, which made Zenta’s ears stand straight.

“Red Objective…?” Zenta whispered to himself. “Is that what he needs to say before an attack?”

Before Zenta could dissect Battler’s words anymore, his attention shifted to the familiar Morningstar presence of Alex. With Javelin Rain falling upon them, Zenta grinned wildly. The feeling of tasting the power of Lucifer, even by a little bit, made him giddy. With practiced ease, Zenta’s hands began to glow white and deflect the last Javelin Rain aimed at him or Bernkastel. A quick flick of his wrist and he caught a spear moments before it hit Bernkastel. Zenta kept the light spear in his grasp, smelling it, controlling the energy of the javelin with his own. Then, for a brief moment, he licked the javelin, his fur bristling followed by a smile.

“Not quite Lucifer Morningstar… But a taste of what is to come.” Zenta said to no one in particular. “Lady Bernkastel, I have a question.”

Zenta paused briefly, using the javelin in his hand to deflect more away from himself and Bernkastel.

“Battler mentioned that he comes from your world, or, at least, a fragment of it. Before he attacks, he says ‘Red Objective’, does this have any semblance or meaning in your world? It seems that by saying the phrase, he is able to perform his attacks…” Zenta faced Battler, taking a stance. “Perhaps we can use to this our advantage, yes?”

The beast deflected a javelin right back towards Alex while pulling his arm back and firing the one in his hand directly to Battler. The javelin whizzed past the others, its tip cutting through the air.

Avalon quickly ushered Asher, and the others, away from the fight, not wanting to get caught in the middle of it. Jaz floated ahead, guiding the group to the side of the wall where, near the ground, was a rusted grate. The phone slipped through the bars with ease and spoke to the group.

“C’mon, in here guys.” Jaz said, turning on a flashlight installed in the phone to light up the damp path. “It will take is right to the lab.”

Avalon plucked the rusted grate free from its bearings and motioned for the others to move quickly. He made sure to keep them hidden, feeling a sense of responsibility over them. For now, this little group was his team, and he vowed to keep them safe. With stealth being his forte, he hardly made a noise with every step, every move.

“Let’s move swiftly,” Avalon whispered, shielding his face with his scarf.

Asher slipped inside the opening, hunching over and moving after Jaz with a content smile on his face. To him, this was another adventure in an unknown world, one of many he went on. A small crawlspace with water dripping overhead, it smelled like a grand time to the boy.

“How far to the lab, Jaz?” Asher asked.

“Not too far. We might be stopped by the barrier, but we’ll figure something out.” Jaz replied.

Outskirts of Federation City

In a flash, the single pillar of Alex’s attack hurling towards her was jammed straight through Vegetto’s fist, with several bullets embedded in his abdomen, triggering an explosion that engulfed the Potaran. Suddenly, she was behind him with no sign that she even moved at all. Despite the loud explosion, Alex took notice of Zenta’s comments and eyed him down.

Blue Objective.” Battler said a new phrase as he lifted his arm and caught the javelin rain with his bare hand. Its speed slowed, and it was light as a feather. With a single tap, the pillar disappeared into nothingness.

Spina was watching her the whole time, trying to understand how she managed to out-speed Zenta, Vegetto and himself. In a split moment, Alex disappeared and reappeared, with her attacks already hitting them before they could even register an attack. It is not out of the ordinary for people of this world to be faster than them, but Spina studied her movements—there was no way that she could be faster—or at the very least, move in such an efficient way. “She moved as if time itself stopped around her.” The old Saiyan talked to himself out loud. “Need a distraction...” Spina smirks as he grabbed onto Cayde and Dielec without warning.

An unconventional method that he had never done before, he shoved his fingers through Cayde’s back and tossed him towards Alex. He then launched Dielec as a follow up.

“Huh?!” Alex disappeared and reappeared instantly, slamming the android to the ground. She held onto Dielec by the collar and tossed her away to the side. “Aren’t you guys’ teammates?!”

“Hell no!” Spina closed the gap between himself and Alex. His fists glowed black as power gathered and launched a heavy blow at the girl’s head.

Red Objective.” Battler shouted as he pointed at Spina.

“Argh!?” Spina felt immense pain as his muscles weakened as the attack landed on Alex. To her, the heavy blow felt more like a feathered pillow.

“Thanks Battler!” Alex fired several bullets. These bullets are not for piercing, but to unleash a powerful force upon impact—like a punch. It slammed onto Spina’s chest, causing him to spat out saliva as he tumbled back so far away from the battlefield.

Federation City

The clerk gulped when Vegetto-Black approached him. Yowl Kassava has friends, and they’re also just as terrifying? Plus, having… a family? He couldn’t believe it and pressed the button even faster in hopes whoever he called would come in. However, that fear washed away the moment he saw the hint of disgust when Kassava gave him a peck on the cheek earlier. “Oh, I get it now. You’re trying to be discreet!” He said in a whisper as he irrationally justified why Vegetto-Black approached him. “Don’t worry about that… thing. She won’t hold you hostage any longer! I’m calling Darkseid! He used to be her mentor, but she had gone rogue. Once he sees her and out of her post…. You two can walk away without worries! I got you!”

Federation City Underground

“Dimo…” Daiman seems like the nickname is going to stick with him for a bit. Seeing that the battle was underway, the rest of the Breakers: Asher, Avalon, Bara, Victor, Mooli, Coella and Daiman headed underground.

The tunnel seems new. There were several caverns that were created recently. “This gives me the creep…” Daiman said. “Maybe I should’ve used the opportunity to run. I mean, I’m not really part of the Breakers, right?”

Daiman hit the barrier that Jaz talked about, giving himself a nosebleed upon impact. “Ouch!!” He covered his nose. “Uh... I think we found the barrier…?” They were in an area where several cave tunnels were made, it’s clear that they were created today.

Behind the barrier was the laboratory of Doctor Doom; along with the barrier, it had several steel doors blocking anyone from seeing inside.

Brachi on her turn had dashed up to avoid the pillar directed at her, while Dielec yelped as Spina suddenly grabbed her and tossed her upwards before she was tossed to the side, but she recovered just as swift.

"Oh, you'll pay for that!" She snarled as she suddenly concentrated, at which sudden bolts of yellow lightning crashed down in an instant on top of Alex in rapid succession, sending her flying as she unleased a total of three of such strikes, before concentrating her energy in her left hand and sent Alex flying backwards with her Powered Arc Burst, which was a short ranged sphere of electric-powered energy, but potent enough to pack quite a punch, while Brachi went Super Saiyan 2 for the moment and fired several energy spheres at Battler in response.
