The Reality Vortex: The Black Rose

Brachi listened to what Vortex-Man said about the Dark Energy, surprised at how different it was than what she knew, and then hearing that Spina had obtained it.

"So if brainwashing or bodyswapping is out of the question, then the only choices I see that someone must have been giving this Dark Energy to Spina out of their own accord, or Spina must have somehow absorbed a portion of that energy during a fight while in proximity of such a crystal, and is now gradually festering like an infection, yet Spina is still in control of himself... for now..." She surmised.

Victor says "so we need a way to strip this dark energy away from Spina or Spina can master this dark energy. If he not too far gone once one these things happen, you can snap him out of his current state. "

Victor says "Being unique an energy to this world is irrelevant. Do we know any energy(s) that have the same kind effect on people especially its user? Mabe one of the methods to deal with those energy(s) could be used to deal with this dark energy." Victor is in thought.

Cayde smiled at Bernkastel, remaining silent at her declaration to save Spina while he looked on. Yet after Vortex Man explained the situation, Cayde rubbed his chin with a small frown in following Victor’s comments.

“From what we saw of those Xy’phers in Reality Metropolis, Rogue City and Reflection City….no. There’s nothing like it; it was all encompassing and all consuming. There was no stopping that kind of corruption from what we tried; nothing could get rid of it.”

He nodded towards the direction of the restaurant.

“So if Vortex Man is right….then how are we going to save the old man? It’s only a matter of time before the Dark Energy completely warps his mind like the others.”

Vortex-Man paused after Brachi entertain the idea that someone could gave Spina Dark Energy. He thought about it for a minute, trying to see how he’ll be able to phrase his thoughts to them without sounding crazy. “…That is a possibility.”

“Unfortunately, that won’t work, Victor. It is especially because our methods of dealing with problematic energies in our world do not work here. It is a completely different beast altogether.” Vortex-Man’s face became grim. “The last time I saw him… it wasn’t as bad, but it is rapidly increasing based on the pressure he lets out. I don’t have a solution because I barely understand it myself. Hart might… but she’s not in the mood for talking to you guys. Closest thing I can say… is probably find out what’s he is currently obsessed about. What drives him? Once you find that out, maybe that will cease that increasingly levels of Dark Energy?”

He shook his head since he was merely speculating. “That’s all I can say for now..."

Victor says, "So the energy has a corrupting effect." Victor asks "I can assume that if dark energy converts another kind of energy to more of itself? In what ways dos it effects Individuals?" Victor thinks "I can narrow down the energies abet. I wonder if my long life can help with this."

Victor asks vertex man "are you speaking about this Dark energy or dos this effect every energy Vortex-Man? If it's the former, then we simple don't know how to resolve that dark energy but if it's the latter then every kind of energy is affected by that then the stander counters and cures to various things no longer work."

“From what I’ve notice, Dark Energy outright replaces your energy. Hence why will none of our methods work. It’s completely alien to us in every single way. And as I said before, it drives them to absolute madness, changes their abilities and their looks. I mean, Spina outright looks like a monster now. I’m concern… if push comes to shove, he won’t explode and take everyone out with him. Like that one that nuked Reality Metropolis.” He rubbed his chin. “Though, technically it still a Dark Crystal so it makes sense that its death results a massive explosion, but still.” He shook his head. “Anyways, that’s all the information I can give you. I’m heading back to the restaurant to make sure Spina or Vegetto aren’t making a ruckus. Good luck.” Without waiting for a reply, he flew towards the restaurant.

Brachi listened again to what Vortex-Man said.

"Well, his motivations are a bit ambiguous right now, but one thing is clear: as Spina is a Saiyan, one thing he would love is the thrill of a fight, especially against strong opponents. It's either that, or he must be holding a grudge against someone and must be looking for ways to upend the one whom is the cause of that ire for him." Brachi said.

"You sure about that?" Dielec asked.

"Think about it; Goku, among Saiyans known as Kakarot, is a prime example of a Saiyan who loves to fight against tough opponents, especially if they're stronger than him, but he will get serious if the lives of those he cares about are on the line. Still, it makes Goku a formidable fighter and definitely no slouch when it comes to learning new techniques, not to mention his training regimen when he studied under Master Roshi. Vegeta on the other hand, while he's a Saiyan like Goku, has held a grudge against Goku just for being able to best him in combat, and having progressively surpassed him in strength by the time the confrontation against Frieza on Namek happened, and with Goku being the first to reach the 'fabled' Super Saiyan form, that only fueled his grudge and frustration about not being able to keep up. Though Vegeta has tried to reach power quickly during the whole stint with Babidi and the evil Majin Buu, his own sheer willpower prevented Babidi from fully controlling him instead of Vegeta becoming a mere puppet when compared to the likes of Dabura. So my theory is that someone must have been giving a portion of this dark energy to Spina to fuel on his own desires and emotions to surpass a particular individual..." Brachi said.

"That's something I can agree with. At least, it certainly fit the bill for Gogeta's erratic behaviors right before he died but Spina's not an open book like he is. Figuring out his real drive like Vortex Man said will be the hard part." Bernkastel rubbed her chin and tried to dig through anything she could remember about him for something relevant. "Spina's only ever up for a good fight if the person holds even a little bit of his interest. Gogeta had to force his hand in order to make him fight head-on... come to think of it, he's treated both Fusions practically the same way in the end. Beneath him entirely."

Even if Hart's not willing to talk, it's strange she seems to be somewhat acquainted with this sort of situation... does that mean Spina isn't the defacto Patient Zero? She opted to keep that observation to herself since it wasn't relevant to Spina's case.

"I wonder if there's a person from his old world that he never reconciled with? Gogeta knew it... erm... Rye? No... Lye? No... I think it was--"

"Beef or Chicken!?"

Mooli had taken Vortex-Man's spot in the group's discussion, shouting a completely inane question that cut through the atmosphere of their serious discussion.

Bernkastel's eye twitched from the sudden intrusion before responding. "What is it? What are you doing here?"

"After you guys left the restaurant to go look for the Old Guy (Spina), we realized it'd be rude to clear the table off without knowing what he'd want to eat! And what if you guys got hungry 'cuz talking takes a long time!? Being hangry is worse than regular angry! Hence... beef or chicken?" Mooli poses once more, posing with a hand on her hip and the other arm poised as though holding a serving plate.

"Don't you have the same sensing abilities as the rest of your kind? Spina's already left so you're late." Bernkastel crossed her arms, not very amused with this woman's antics.

"Ouch, tough crowd tonight..." Mooli hunched over with a droopy tail, before straightening back up. "That's true. I figured something happened once I felt Vegetto's energy move off but the rest of you seemed unharmed. You all clearly aren't annihilated in a mass destructive rage so his theory about Zamasu's body-snatching didn't pan out... better to let him sulk on his own for now. Still, no reason to not check up on you guys since I know he can say some really caustic things." She could tell from their long faces Vegetto hadn't helped matters but seemed relieved nobody was physically harmed. "I take it things didn't go over well talking to the Old Man either... it sounded serious."

Cayde looked on as the others posed their theories and explanations, his eyes following Vortex Man as he flew back towards the restaurant. He crossed his arms, frowning a bit but lightened his expression once Mooli arrrived. He waved his hand dismissively, gesturing back to the others.

"Hey don't worry about it, friendo. Let's not dwell on him; we got bigger problems to worry about. Firstly...the answer is beef. Chicken is only an alternative when you are out of beef."

He lowered his hand.

"Secondly...this idea of a mysterious benefactor. Any ideas on who it can be? Surely it's not someone we can take lightly if he can gift something like Dark Energy to Spina."

Cayde paused however, at the sudden surging sensation of an immense pressure. Overwhelming divine ki radiated near the direction where Vegetto had flown off too; only this time, it was an entirely different presence altogether. Powerful wind billowed across the ground where the team stood ever so briefly, and within the blink of an eye, a new figure suddenly crashed into the floor a few feet from the team.

Thunder crackled in the distant sky above; no doubt a result of the immense speed and power used in the speed used to travel from an unknown destination. The taller figure was familiar. Whis, the angel responsible for training Vegetto and Kassava from their world, had fallen to the floor in the small crater he left. The angel coughed audibly; a small splatter of blood hitting the stone floor of the rooftop, but the angel quickly wiped his mouth with the back of his right hand. Whis trembled slightly, scratches and tears littering his ornate and normally pristine attire with the halo around his neck a bit lopsided.

Whis struggled to stand to his feet, but he made sure to quickly rise up before any of the others could assist him. He paused for a deep breath after the seemingly laborious action for him, his warm smile still managing to pierce through his tattered and damaged visage as he greeted everyone.

"Oh my...I apologize for that...display. It has been some time...hello everyone!"

Avalon listened to the talk about dark energy and who might be responsible for giving Spina the dark energy. His mind thought back to every encounter they had, both prior and after Spina’s change. He thought long and hard, staring at his scroll, pondering every moment.

If someone is feeding Spina dark energy, then who could it be? It can’t be anyone we fought, Kaiba, the Xy’phers and Red King, even some Hart chick… Avalon blinked, glancing between each Breaker silently. That odd creature the Red King saw… He mentioned that he broke through a barrier and saw that thing. Is that barrier here to keep us in or keep that thing out?

Avalon glanced up at the sky, looking directly at the moon, having more questions than answers.

The Voice, that mysterious creature… We know so little about them, but with Dark Energy being fed to Spina, somehow… it must be a power beyond anything we have seen. A scope of something even beyond what we know. What is this world...?

“Shoot.” Avalon said to himself, biting his lip, hardly paying attention to the others as he continued to think. He tapped his foot and his body jittered anxiously, as if desperate to find an answer.

Zenta yawned slightly, seemingly losing interest in the conversation, letting his attention turn to the sky.

“Perhaps we should check on Spina and see—"

The fox quickly snapped his head in front of him, feeling the immense pressure and where it landed. For a moment, he stood next to his grandson, not recognizing the energy for a moment. Only until the dust settled down, and energy visible to him, did the fox smile from ear to ear.

Asher lifted an arm to shield his face from the dust before slowly lowering it to see the disheveled figure standing before the Breakers. He tilted his head and glanced back up at his grandfather, seeing his smile.

“You know him, grandpa?”

“Ah, he’s a friend, Vegetto’s mentor, if I remember correctly.” Zenta said before gesturing to the angel. “Asher, this is Whis, a powerful fighter.”

“Legit?! He can fight? Alright! Grandpa, can I take him on? Can I fight him?! Like, right now? Mom will be so proud when I tell her I beat Vegetto’s teacher!”

Zenta let out a small sigh before shaking his head with a smile.

“No, Asher. Sit still and calm down.” Zenta then turned to Whis, giving him a bow of his head. "It has been a while, Whis. Please, ignore the little one, that's just my grandson."
