Animal Crossing: New Horizons [Switch]

You're welcome! I also remembered 1 more bit: if you don't like any of the 4 maps, you can just close and open the game back up to re-do it and you get 4 new generated maps. If you're not looking to have a certain fruit on your island your first try, it's a fast process of choosing. Just keep in mind that the only part of the island you can access will be the section of land that has the Nook Inc tent on it. It's the only area you can plop your first tent in since you won't have tools or a bridge to access the rest of the island until later-- so keep that in mind when you pick your map! :)

Edit: I had this in the OP but I forgot... oops

Just like to say that the 1000 bells in the ground was there in the first animal crossing and if you planted it and let it grow you can get a money tree

I very much love having a bell tree now. Also turns out I ended up on a Mystery Island tour where it was basically a small plot of land within a lake with 6 rocks. All of them were bell rocks, so even though i was extremely pissed not to get any islands with a clifftop river, I did pocket 40k+ bells just by smacking rocks a bunch of times.

Also, I'm here to amend that you can in fact design your island from the ground up-- turns out there's a construction permit that can be done to remove ALL cliffs and rivers. This is the equivalent of using a seed that makes a completely flat minceaft world with nothing but grass and bedrock on it. But personally I won't try it out since I am really bad at being given what is basically dev tools lol.

You can also after getting the Town Hall, relocate any building you want for a price, so this probably includes your house once you develop it enough. I might move my house to the cliffs since I'm going for a haunted island feel...

So I been seeing a bunch of people going to islands and finding infinite money and whatnot. What's that about? (I assumed that its a bit different from New Leaf where you can just visit people's island and stuff). And what's the deal with time-traveling? Heard people claim it was cheating or something

I think they mean the Tarantula islands. From what I've seen and read, you go to these random islands using a Tom Nook ticket. In order to get the tarantulas to spawn, you need to get rid of everything on your random island and basically manipulate the RNG factor of the tarantula. They sell for 8000 bells so they're a pretty nifty early game profit! I don't know anything about the Time Travel thing but I heard it's cheating. I won't dive into that since I like to play the game fair and square! Why cheat in Animal Crossing? It's such a cute and peaceful game! Cheaters will be punished by an army of tarantulas.

I dont really think its cheating, since there is no particular aim in the game to be fullfilled, that being said I wouldn't time travel myself since the game is about being chill and playing at your own phase.
And messing with the time settings on my Switch would just bother  me haha.

I think people just mostly time travel to get rid of waiting times..  and if thats how they wanna play who am I to tell them to not do that haha, its counts as speedrunning in a game without a goal imo.

Basically they're islands that change each time, but nobody knows all the possible types yet. Time Travel... discourse as old as the game's inception. It's a dead horse that gets resurrected every new title. It is technically cheating because you are changing the system clock to your advantage. However, it's probably the most harmless form of it. It's always been allowed by the games, so If it's really a crime like a loud minority seem to think, the developers didn't sound that bothered.

I've done it to obtain fish only available in certain seasons that I missed out on without the hassle of waiting, and I do it in NH to circumvent having to wait for these buildings to finish but always ensure I go back to the normal date. The only valid complaint imo is when people are posting untagged spoilers of their time traveling discoveries and ruining the novelty for everyone else. Except since the internet doesn't understand the concept of spoiling people, the devs have locked special events behind real time internet connections. So everyone is still experiencing the special stuff at the same time by design.

Still, It's ironic to me some people are so loud about time travel being wrong and entirely against the point of the game while hardly anyone of the same platform bats an eye at those perfect natured best IV/EV powersaved shiny Pokemon. And that's an actual 'competitive' game ;) It's much easier to leave it as "I play how I want, you play how you want"! I don't owe randoms on TWITter the time of day over something so inconsequential, they can catch this block button for all I care  :silly:

See, when you say advantages—I think of something like, enabling you to get access to infinite amount of cash that would be otherwise impossible to do without cheating. Yet, what you are subscribing it’s practically just speeding things up if you don’t want to wait days on end to get something you desire, lol. Nothing advantageous about that. I don’t think it can even be “technically” cheating since, well, you aren’t. You just get stuff that you normally have to wait on a regular time lol.

There's a new patch regarding the eggdemic:

A new patch has been released for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and according to the patch notes it adjusts the amount of eggs that appear as part of the game’s Bunny Day event. The amount of sky eggs appearing in the game seem to have fallen as a result of the patch, but that the amount of water eggs appear to be unchanged.

I feel like there's hardly a difference in the sky egg drops since I see 2 floating by at once (they move SO FAST WTHHHH), but it's kinda whack trying to get the rare fish whose shadow size is the exact one that spits out water eggs.

I got sick of wasting my bait only to summon stupid-ass seabass, so I'll have to wait bunny day out before fishing for the rare barreleye and char.

Also I'm hearing that dataminers are thinking the next update may or may not finally release Brewster/The Roost cafe as an unlockable character. He's present in the files but so far apparently you can't trigger his appearance or predict it at all via time travel.

The bunny day event was such a mess, I'm glad its over. I hope they make some events last a little less longer next time.

Also I feel like I've made 0 progress on my island because I dont have enough bells, and no aesthetic sense.. i just keep throwing everything in my storage.. one day ill put effort into my island..I did start chopping down lots of trees today so that counts for something haha. :katdefeat:

Question, where do you all put your wood, stones, irons etc? I drop them off next to my work bench but I think Isabelle counts that as litter on the island. :sob:
