A few miles away from the apartment
=========
Kassava's arm hung at her sides, her breathing extensively labored as the rays of light from the sun bounced off her skin. She grimaced at the sound of the crows, feeling an odd connection to the shriek. Her eyes lifted, nearly groaning at the sight of Whis landing gently a few feet in front of her.
"Can we take a break now?! We've been training all night!"
Whis kept a blank expression, his arms lifting up and charging forward at Kassava. He planted his feet firmly once he had close the gap to her, launching his left fist forward while Kassava's arm shot up to parry the strike. Her expression noticeably strained in keeping pace with the hit, her right arm flying up to catching the incoming follow up from Whis' right fist. She threw up her opposing arm again, expecting Whis' fist to fly forward once more, but froze at the millisecond his arm bent, his elbow slamming into her shoulder and promptly shooting her into the ground with a thunderous shockwave.
Whis frowned slightly, watching Kassava attempt to push herself up with wobbling arms.
"Clear your mind."
Kassava fell face first onto the ground again, panting heavily while Whis loomed over her.
"Your body knows you no longer can keep this up: it's fighting against you. Give in."
Kassava winced, huffing heavily with a dazed stare.
"The strong...aren't supposed to give up..."
Whis' smile rose.
"That didn't stop you from quitting, did it?"
Kassava grunted in response, her arms struggling to push her off the ground. Her entire body burned in agony, the muscles seemingly ripping inside of her arms as she struggled to push herself off the ground. Whis watched on, his smile disappearing slowly as his tone grew stern.
"You've been taught your entire life that giving in is failure. It's an admirable sentiment...but you've been blind to the real truth about your body. Your mind keeps commanding it to rise, to stand and continue fighting. But why should it?"
Kassava turned her head up slightly, staring up at Whis who sighed lightly.
"It's been over nine hours of constant struggle, and your mind has proven it isn't able to figure out how to win. The body follows your command at the start, but with each failure, it loses confidence in your ability to lead. So it rebels, not in a desire to quit or to surrender: it wants to take charge. To lead."
Whis narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Stop fighting it. Clear your thoughts...clear your mind. Let it flow."
His left foot reeled back, preparing to punt Kassava. His smile returned, watching Kassava turn her eyes to the glowing energy forming around his shoe, the energy specifically roaring with an ominous pitch in an attempt to focus her attention.
"Trust in it: the power will come."
Whis threw his leg forward, his narrowed eyes watching Kassava as she lay face first on the ground. His eyes barely shifted once his shoe suddenly came to a halt, following the hand that caught his foot. Whis kept his smile, staring down at Kassava's eyes, a small flash of silver finally resonating in her pupils. Her eyes then widened, darting around for a moment before landing on the hand that caught the foot. Her eyebrows quickly narrowed again once she had realized what she had done, her arms visibly tensing.
"Kaioken!!"
Whis blinked, his robes blasting back slightly from the surge of violent red energy exploding outward around Kassava's body. However, she quickly recoiled, the power completely fading as she clutched her abdomen in pain and writhed on the ground.
"Ow ow ow ow!!"
Whis sighed heavily, shaking his head from side to side once. His head turned to the side, glancing towards the apartment complex off in the distance with a flat stare.
"Well...it's progress I suppose. Perhaps we should call it a day."
