GTA San Andreas: Special Vehicles Guide

The next post will detail how to obtain FIVE ALL-PROOF VEHICLES from the mission 'Photo Opportunity', but before I do this, I want to clarify a few things first.

  • After doing research myself into how to obtain them, it has been said that it works best only on the PC! Doing it on the consoles will crash the game and potentially corrupt the save game it's used on. As I do not own any consoles myself, I cannot confirm the exact corruption, but I'm putting the warning out nonetheless.
  • The method used is the so-called 'OM0 method'. This method exploits the 'mission flag' that the game utilizes: If you're NOT on a mission, your in-game cellphone doesn't ring or you're not on a in-game phonecall, the flag is set to 'On Mission 0'. If this flag is set to 'On Mission 1', then it means that a mission is in progress, the cell phone rings or you're on a phone call, thus blocking you from e.g. going through the save marker to save the game. This is a big deal, since if one would do a mission with the flag set to 0, it allows the player to do a little more than what the game designers intended, making it ideal for speedrunners for example.
  • The following spots are the most common places where speedrunners set up an 'On Mission 0 Phone Call':
    • Trucking (A side mission accessed by the RS Haul facility located in Flint County)
    • Blood Bowl (The San Fierro Stadium Mission)
    • Bike School (Located in Las Venturas south of the Stadium there)

How does the 'OM0 Method' work?
  • While walking into a mission marker, the player would want a phone call to come in right when the game wants to start the mission. This will confuse the game and knows it's time for the phone cal, but the player has just started the mission. The game does its best to work out this confusion by letting a phone call through after the mission has begun. Thus the player went from 'On mission 0' to starting a mission and having a phone call come in at the exact same time, so the game sees the mission first and sets the player 'on mission 1'. Due to the confusion, the game allows the phone cal to still come through, thus the mission flag gets reverted back to 'on mission 0' after the phone stop ringing while the player is still on the mission.
  • When the player gets close to ending the mission, they will hold the phone call, so that way they go back to 'on mission 1' and end the mission. They keep doing this until the time comes to do a 'dupe' or 'instant pass'. This isn't easy as it sounds however.
For a tutorial on this, here is a YouTube video that explains it all:

This post will explain how to obtain FIVE ALL-PROOF Vehicles from the mission 'Photo Opportunity' using the OM0 method. These vehicles are:
  • Ryder's unique all-brown Picador
  • T-Bone Mendez' unique brown ZR-350
  • Mike Toreno's unique coffee-brown Washington
  • Cesar Vialpando's unique red Savanna with red seats
  • Jizzy B's unique beige Broadway with purple seats

gallery279.jpg
How to obtain these cars:

What is needed:
  • The mission 'Deconstruction' must be completed, but do NOT accept Jethro's call concerning the Driving School yet!. This is very important as you need the incoming phone call for the process of obtaining the vehicles.
  • Make sure that the keys for 'Accepting Phone Calls', 'Showing Stats' when on foot and 'Secondary Fire' when in Vehicles are assigned to the same button (I use the 'Tab' button for it), or it will NOT work.
  • Any weapon that allows for walking while aiming regardless of weapon skill (Pistol, Micro-SMG, Tec-9)
  • Satchel Charges (as it requires being 'Wasted' once to make it work, your health also must be at least below 25%.)
  • Storage Space in a big garage (Doherty or Hashbury) for the initial four vehicles. The 5th one can be stored elsewhere.
  • Camera
The steps:
  1. First, when you hear the phone ringing, do NOT accept the phone call!. Instead, hop into a vehicle and drive to the Corvin Stadium in Foster Valley, San Fierro.
  2. When at the stadium, leave the vehicle. When you see the prompt to accept the phone call, either enter the vehicle again or fire a single shot from the Pistol, Tec-9 or Micro-SMG (risk of Wanted Level however). This will postpone the call by 15 seconds.
  3. While aiming the weapon, walk into the Blood Bowl Mission Marker outside the stadium!. When the 15 seconds have passed, stop aiming your gun. If done right, you'll see the prompt popping up as the screen fades out to start the Blood Bowl minigame.
  4. If you did this with the correct timing, you can now drive the car DURING the explanation cutscene! If you see this happening (see screenshot below), skip the cutscene and just drive around, but do NOT drive through any markers that add time.Driving During Cutscene.png
  5. When time is about to run out, press and hold the TAB button!.
  6. When exiting the stadium, keep holding the TAB button, enter the vehicle you used to get to the stadium, drive to the Doherty Garage and enter the mission marker to proceed with 'Photo Opportunity'.
  7. Skip Cesar's phone call, get back into your car and release the Tab button. If everything went right, you should see a Save Game icon AND the mission marker even though a mission is in progress. (See screenshot below, that is what you want to have; save icons/safehouse locations and mission marker still visible in the minimap!)Save Icon Active In Mission.png
  8. Proceed with the mission as normal by driving to Cesar to take him with his Savanna to Angel Pine. Should you have failed the mission itself earlier, you can also make use of the Trip Skips when prompted.
  9. When in Angel Pine, drive through the mission marker and exit the car.
  10. Go up to the assigned building, but do NOT enter the mission marker right away! Instead, place a satchel charge on the wall behind the mission marker, move close to the marker itself and use the detonator. If your health is low enough at this point, this will let you get 'wasted', but also get hurled into the mission marker, so the mission technically continues and you retain all your weapons at this point!
  11. Quickly enter the nearby Ambulance or any other vehicle nearby, drive to the Cluckin' Bell and block Ryder's path! Then exit the vehicle, go near the building you were supposed to take pictures from and photograph Ryder's face.
  12. Take photos of both T-Bone Mendez and Mike Toreno as they arrive.
  13. When you see Jizzy arrive at the gathering, kill him before he makes it and also waste the driver for good measure.
  14. Now, get into any one of the AP vehicles (EXCEPT for the Broadway, save that one for last!) and drive them to the Doherty Garage (or Hashbury) to store them.
  15. Repeat this unti you've stored the Picador, ZR-350, Savanna and Washington in the garage.
  16. Get into the Broadway and press '2' to start the Pimping submission and immediately press 2 again to cancel it, this will also stop the 'Photo Opportunity' mission as well. Should the blip from the Pimping Mission persist, then exit the car and wait 20 seconds will also terminate the submission.
  17. Use the Broadway to get to the garage you stored the other vehicles in and open and close the garage door to confirm the vehicles!.
  18. Store the Broadway in a different garage, confirm it by closing and opening the garage doors, and then save the game.
  19. Now you should have 5 All-Proof Vehicles ready for you to use at any time.
If you find this method to convoluted or you don't want to go through the effort of it all, or you want to keep your 'hospital visits' at 0:

This post will explain how to obtain a unique Jet-Black Huntley and a unique black and white Stretch from the mission 'Jizzy'. What is worthy to note is that the Huntley here is initially heavier than normal, which means it has a greater mass than the 'normal' variant making it lose less momentum when colliding against objects and can push other vehicles aroudn effortlessly. However it will lose this property if you save the vehicle, but will retain its color.gallery284.jpg
gallery73.jpg
How to obtain these cars:

What is needed:
  • Storage space in the Doherty Garage, for distance purposes
  • Assault rifle like the AK-47 or M4 Carbine, or Sniper Rifle
The Steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Jizzy' as normal, until you're tasked to drive back to the Hotel downtown.
  2. When tasked to chase the Stretch with the Huntley, drive ahead of them and step out of the car at the nearest intersection
  3. Take out your assault rifle and shoot at the two cars to snipe the Drivers. If done right, they should fall out of the cars with doors open, allowing you to board them.
  4. Take the vehicles back to the Doherty Garage, either by pushing one of them using the Huntley, or by driving them in turns continuously, but make sure to leave the Driver's seat open to prevent them from being locked.
  5. Once in the garage, head back to Jizzy's Broadway and finish the mission.
  6. Move back to the Doherty Garage to confirm the vehicles in there, to mark them as 'saved'.
  7. Save the game.

This post will explain how to obtain the unique Pink Club car from Millie in the mission 'Key To Her Heart'.
gallery319.jpg
How to obtain this car:

What is needed:
  • Storage space in the Prickle Pine Safehouse as that's the nearest safehouse, distance wise.
The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Key to her Heart' as normal, up to where Millie arrives at her house in Prickle Pine. Enter the red marker when arriving there.
  2. When you see the cutscene of Millie getting out of her car, hit the Enter or Spacebar buttons to skip the cutscene the moment Millie is out of the car, but BEFORE she closes her car door! If done right, this should leave the car door open for you to enter it.
  3. Enter Millie's Club, and drive over the approaching Pimp to waste him, or do a drive-by (watch for a Wanted Level though) if you prefer, just make sure that he does NOT reach Millie's house!
  4. Drive to the Prickle Pine Safehouse and store the car into the garage.
  5. Drive back to Millie's House using any parked car you see (there should be one right next to the Safehouse) and finish the mission.
  6. Once the mission has passed, move back to the Prickle Pine Safehouse to check on the Club in the garage there. You see the engine of the car still running.
  7. Close the Garage door and open it back up to 'confirm' the car in the garage. The engine of the car should not be running anymore due to this.
  8. Save the game.

This post will explain how to obtain the Unique Green Packer from the mission 'Cop Wheels'.
gallery324.jpg
How to obtain this truck:

What is needed:
  • Storage space in the Verdant Meadows Safehouse Hangar as that's the only garage big enough to store this truck in without issue
  • Satchel Charges
The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Cop Wheels' as normal until you have to collect the Police Bikes.
  2. When obtaining the first Police Bike, make sure you do not get busted by the original driver, waste him if needed.
  3. Place a Satchel Charge on the Police Bike and drive to the Julius Thruway, where the Packer is driving at (a blue blip on the minimap will indicate its position, allowing you to track it)
  4. Once you've located the packer, do not drive the bike up the Packer! Instead, drive ahead then leave the Police Bike. Once you see the Packer approaching, detonate the Satchel Charge to destroy the Bike, which fails the mission
  5. Move in front of the Packer to make it stop in its tracks, then just give it a single punch with your fist to make the driver come out.
  6. Now enter the Packer yourself and drive all the way to the large Hangar of the Verdant Meadows Aircraft Graveyard.
  7. Enter the Hangar to store the Packer inside, don't worry about the other pedestrian whom has 'tagged along', it wil vanish once you've saved the game.
  8. Exit the Hangar to let its door close up with the Packer inside, check on it to confirm it, just in case, and then save the game.
  9. Now you should have a unique Green-colored Packer to use as you please.

This post will explain how to perform an All-Proof Conversion, in which you can give one car of your choosing the All-Proof properties (Bullet/Damage/Explosion/Fire/Melee proof). In this example, I've made a Turismo All-Proof using the mission 'Home Coming'.
gallery335.jpg
How to obtain this:

What is needed:
  • Any vehicle of your choosing, can be one you pick up underway (Like a Police Car) or one stored in a garage like the Johnson House Garage (like the Turismo as in the picture above).
  • Body Armor
  • Minigun, Assault Rifle (AK-47 or M4) or whatever other weapon you prefer to dispatch of any opposition during the Gang War.
  • Progress with Denise Robinson (first in-game girlfriend) at about 30% or lower (recommended)
  • Having Collected all 50 Oysters (recommended)
The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Home Coming' like normal, make sure that you take out the Ballas first BEFORE taking on the Dealers.
  2. When attacking the Crack Dealers, drive a vehicle up to one of the Dealers and bump against him to make him fall over, but do NOT kill him! Instead, when the dealer is knocked over, drive the vehicle gently over it to keep the dealer 'pinned down', so he won't get up.
  3. Take out the rest of the dealers, then move into a different vehicle with Sweet and drive to TransFender at Temple and enter it. This will automatically finish the mission, but you will find yourself in 'Black Hell' given the surroundings.
  4. Aim your weapons while entering the Johnson House! This will prevent you from starting the next mission (Beat Down on B-Dup of which the mission marker is right in front of the Johnson House). Once in the house, you'll regain normal view.
  5. Exit the House, aim your weapon to avoid triggering the mission and move to Denise Robinson's House which isn't too far away (indicated by the Valentine's Heart on the minimap). When the in-game time is between 16:00 and 06:00 (4:00 PM and 6:00 AM), she is at home at which you'll be able to date her. Having the progress at about 30% or lower is recommended for the best option: The Food Date.
  6. Go on foot to the Ten Green Bottles (which isn't too far away) and enter to trigger the 'Successful Date' scene.
  7. After the date is over, enter any nearby vehicle you can find (recommend one that can be modded at the TransFender, such as the Greenwood, Picador, Sabre or Clover for example, you can take even Sweet's Greenwood or Ryder's Picador which spawn at their houses for example) and drive in reverse back to Denise's House.
  8. Once at Denise's House and she asks for 'coffee' (which ALWAYS happens after any successful date when all 50 Oysters have been collected), spam the 'Exit Vehicle' button (like Enter on the Keyboard) to reappear at TransFender and see the Garage open up.
  9. Exit TransFender and fetch any vehicle of your choosing that you want to convert to All-Proof (such as a Police Car or Turismo), and drive to the Pond in Glen Park.
  10. Drive the Car into the water pond of Glen Park and submerge the vehicle, then accept 'coffee' from Denise.
  11. Once that is over with and you have regained control of CJ, exit the vehicle and push the converted AP vehicle out of Glen Pond. Then you can drive back to any safehouse garage of your choosing (such as the Johnson House) to store it.
  12. Save the game.

Update!

This post will explain how to obtain an Explosion-proof Mule van from the mission 'Robbing Uncle Sam' while passing the mission. Explosion-proof means that the vehicle cannot be damaged by Satchel Charges, Hand Grenades or Rockets from RPGs.

gallery400.jpg
How to obtain this:

What is needed:
  • Body Armor
  • Storage space in any of the available safehouses (Johnson House and Verdant Bluffs are the closest).

The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Robbing Uncle Sam as normal. You can also choose to take the Unique Military-Green Mesa and the Bulletproof Forklift present in this mission as well.
  2. After completing the mission, take the Mule out of the storage at Willowfield (which happens to be Emmet's place) and drive the van to any of the available safehouses, like the Mulholland Safehouse north of Madd Dogg's Mansion as pictured above.
  3. Make sure you close the garage door and reopen it to 'confirm' the vehicle before saving. You must also 'confirm' the Mesa and the Forklift if you have taken those vehicles from this mission and stored them in a different safehouse, before saving.
  4. Save the game.

This next post will explain how to obtain a second All-Proof Admiral from the mission 'Los Sepulcros'. Given that it requires a mission failure, it's possible to obtain this vehicle and Kane's Admiral in succession. This Admiral in question is the getaway car you will drive after killing the Ballas, but until that moment, the vehicle is locked AND All-Proof (it will lose its property once unlocked in-mission). To keep the vehicle with the All-Proof properties intact, the following needs to be done (see below the picture):
gallery196.jpg
How to obtain this car:

What is needed:
  • Storage space in any Safehouse of your choosing that's available
  • Tow Truck or Tractor
The steps:
  1. Start the mission 'Los Sepulcros' as normal, until Sweet mentions 'We'll need some allies'. Ignore Sweet and go on foot to fetch the Tractor or Tow Truck. If you haven't put either vehicle in a garage beforehand:
    1. The tractor is commonly found in the rural areas, being driven around Palomino Creek. It also spawns at the western portion of the Blueberry Acres or on a field west of Palomino Creek and a broken bridge, near a barn and water tower.
    2. The Tow Truck can be commonly found driven around Ocean Docks
  2. Once in the Tow Truck/Tractor, drive to Los Sepulcros alone to the main entrance. You should see the Admiral there.
  3. Park the tractor/tow truck in reverse in front of the Admiral, then exit the vehicle.
  4. Fire a few shots to start a commotion, which will fail the mission (but risks a Wanted Level).
  5. Get back in the Tractor or Tow Truck, and lower its crane to attach the front of the Admiral onto it, then raise the crane to lift the Admiral's front up.
  6. Drive with the Admiral attached to any safehouse of your choosing that's available.
  7. Park IN REVERSE into the garage to let the Admiral enter the garage. Lower the crane to release the car, then exit the garage to let the door close. Keep the Admiral on-screen during this!
  8. Go back to the garage to open the door. If done right, you should see the Admiral standing there, ready for you to drive.
  9. Save the game.

This post will explain how to obtain an All-Proof Sanchez bike from the mission 'Wrong Side of the Tracks'.

gallery418.jpg
How to obtain this bike:

What is needed:
  • Storage space in any safehouse garage available at the time:
    • The Johnson House
    • El Corona/Verdant Bluffs
    • Santa Maria Beach
    • Mulholland
  • Body Armor (for protection against the feds)
  • An Assault Rifle or Minigun (recommended)
The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Wrong Side of the Tracks' as normal, until you are tasked to drive Big Smoke home after successfully killing the Vagos gang members.
  2. Don't drive Big Smoke home, but instead ride the motorcycle to Glen Park and submerge the bike into the water, but keep it close to the shore.
  3. Use the Assault Rifle or the (recommended) Minigun to kill Big Smoke, which fails the mission.
  4. Retrieve the Sanchez bike from the pond in Glen Park. If done right, you should be able to ride it again and take it to a safe house of your choosing.
  5. Once stored in the garage, save the game.

Also, here are some tips that will let you know when a Motorcycle like the Sanches, FCR-900 or a BF400 has the All-Proof properties:
  • Shotgun blasts like from a Sawn-off Shotgun will push the bike instead of inflicting damage (seen when smoke would come out of the bike)
  • Fires from any source (from explosions, Molotovs or Flamethrowers) do not affect them
  • When an explosion occurs in the direct vicinity of the bike, it will not damage the bike, nor will CJ get blasted off the bike himself.

Now here is something truly unique: it's possible to obtain an All-Proof RC Raider, a miniature helicopter from the mission 'Wear Flowers In Your Hair'. gallery64.jpg
(location)
gallery65.jpg
(stored in garage next to an earlier obtained All-Proof Sadler)

How to obtain this:

What is needed:
  • Parachute
  • Storage space in any of the available safehouses (Doherty Garage is the closest).
  • Packer Truck

The steps:
  1. Play the mission 'Wear Flowers In Your Hair' as normal, until you've arrived at Zero's RC shop. Do NOT honk the horn!
  2. Exit the Emperor car and grab a Packer Truck. In San Fierro, they can usually be found driven around Easter Basin (unless you've managed to park one in the Doherty Garage). Bear in mind that you shouldn't stray too far from the Emperor with The Truth and Jethro as it will fail the mission if you do, so you need to 'double drive' the vehicles once you've found a Packer.
  3. Drive the Packer to the Zero RC shop and position it to where you can reach the RC Raider using the parking lot.
  4. Drive any other vehicle, like a Sabre, onto the packer to reach the Raider. Make sure there's no subway cart passing by.
  5. Climb on top of the Packer Truck and the car stashed on the ramp, and once you reach the RC Raider, equip the Parachute and stomp on the Raider, until it is about to explode. Move back to where the wreck lands on the ground, but be mindful of a potential Wanted Level.
  6. Continue the mission, while using the Emperor car to push the wrecked RC Raider to the Doherty Garage and push it into it. Make sure it does NOT despawn!
  7. Once the RC Raider is in the garage and the garage door has closed while keeping the wreck on screen, finish the mission. This will get rid of any wanted level accumulated
  8. Check the Garage. If the restored RC Raider is in there, you've succeeded.
