Review Rate The Last Movie You Saw

Saw the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. 2/5. Not bad, not great either. Just a fun, run of the mill movie! It does what it needs to do and nothing more.

The fact that I had no idea we were even getting this movie until about a few weeks ago says a lot. Just an influx of marketing merchandise flooded in the past month that I caught wind of like those Luma bath bombs by Lush and some other Mario Galaxy product they had to take off the shelf because it stained people's skin with the dye used. Old Spice just dropping a boatload of limited edition scents (but it does smell pretty good. It is also soap).
I haven't heard of anything like a Mario Meal or something one would expect to see like how Minecraft did its marketing (for an equally... meh movie to be honest I had to turn it off. A+ marketing season though. Chicken Jockey).

Social Media did NOT like this movie! I was kinda surprised after the first Mario Movie was received so well.

I (re)watched Return of the Living Dead the other night. Never rated it on here I think. Gets a 4/5 from me just because of how endearingly crazy it is and my enjoyment of the effdcts they used in it. Tar Man is my favorite zombie of all time. His sequel brother isn't as terrifying to me but still good.

I didn't realize the major push of merch for this film was this hard lol. I hardly stay on top on any merch news since I don't have cable TV and I have ad blocker lol.

It is kind of crazy of this extreme negative reaction to an average movie. I can agree somewhat that the plot wasn't really there other than "there's a problem, now we fix it" and that's it. The ending did seem to come out of nowhere and felt like it needed an extra 30 minutes or an hour to finished off what it needs to do. But the animation was absolutely stunning across the board, and the voice acting was top-notch. Felt like people are going wayyy too hard for a movie by coming up crazy, outright schizo theories of "coporate overlords". It just a movie, ya'll!

Maybe the next one will be better plotwise? Who knows (unless they adapt RPG or Mario and Luigi RPG story), but let's chill a bit lol

I saw the original Living of the Dead, and thought it was great. Never realized that the film you watch is connected to that.

I can't remember if there was promotional merchandise for the first movie but usually I will notice this kind of marketing popping up for quite a few months leading up to the box office day and it generates a lot of buzz.

It seems to have smashed the box office so I'm kinda wondering what exactly has people reacting to it like this. For me the last time I saw an animated sequel cause so much racket like this was Ralph Breaks the Internet. Personally even though I played the Mario Galaxy games I don't care for Rosalina that much. There's posts about how she doesn't get a lot of screentime and I wonder if her fanbase is just really mad about that in particular. With all the other nintendo cameos we might see a crossover style movie in the works. I never played Super Mario RPG so idk its potential as a future movie

Yeah the guy who made ROTLD worked closely on the Romero original and in-universe Night of the Living Dead is considered to be a movie based on a real event. Lots of behind the scenes lore on it but the ROTLD movies are a neat take on zombies! Don't ask me about the 3rd one though. I had to turn that off after 30 minutes I just did not vibe with it (I didn't vibe with Nightmare on Elm Street or Poltergeist... I ended up falling asleep for the latter and bored with the former but I should revisit them for a fair shot). I love the 1st and 2nd Return of the Living Deads
