Since there's currently a giveaway of the game going on right now where you can get a free copy of the game by going to the Steam page and redeeming your own copy. There are 5 million copies available, so get it now!

Payday 2 is a FPS developed by Overkill and published by Starbreeze Studios where heisters rob things and get money and shit. It's a fun game. Download it 8U

When I looked into it after h3h3 announced they were working with the Payday devs to make their own DLC into the game, I think you'd need at least 4 or 8 GB ram (last I dug through reddit's computer nerd subs), but I think it does depend on how much RAM and your graphics card.

I think you'd get a good idea of whether or not it will turn your laptop into a potato oven if you download the demo and try it out. My brother can run CSGO on his Macbook Air laptop fine, but it turns his laptop into a space heater if that's any good as an indicator. I'm not a computer whiz so I just install stuff I visually estimate can run without my laptop being able to fry eggs on it. I think if you have a Dell or smth it should be fine.

I'll take any downvotes for my uneducated-ass post :slow:

My laptop has 4 GB Ram and was able to run Heroes of the Storm when I played it for the D.va skin. I mean, it didn't run like absolute shit, but it's was fine and wasn't causing troubles. So I guess I could try out the demo and see where I can go from there.  Where do you find information of the graphic card anyways?

The graphics card? I just googled "Payday 2 specs/requirements" or something along that effect and it just popped up with all the listed requirements to run properly. Though I think the subreddits would mention theirs running on Nividia graphic cards and the like, others claimed the Intel HD Graphics 3000 should be just fine. Processing capability and overall performance of course varies on an individual case, but it should be general enough to be applicable to most laptops.

To match it with your computer, for Windows 7, you do:
>My Computer
  >>System Properties - should show Processor, installed memory/RAM, System Type
     >>>Performance Information and Tools shows pretty much numerical ratings of your computer's performance of the aforementioned including the Graphics cards.

Something similar should do the trick for Windows 8 and the like, but from the System Properties Menu, you should find Device Manager, which opens another window. Click "Display Adaptors" and it should show you the type of graphics card you've got.

The amount of dedicated PC RAM needed to run Payday depends on if you have integrated graphics (most likely) or not (definitely not likely unless you bought a nice, pricey laptop). With integrated potato graphics, you definitely need at least 6 gigs of RAM to properly run Payday, especially if you're one of those people who don't close their 200 Google Chrome tabs before starting anything else. It would probably run OKish on 4 gigs, but it's definitely a no-go on 2 gigs unless you have dedicated graphics, which it's highly unlikely you do with that little RAM installed unless it's a laptop from 2007, in which I will personally vouch that it runs like garbage.

For comparison's sake, my laptop runs off 6 gigs of 2133 mhz DDR4 RAM (higher speeds = better for integrated graphics) and the Intel i5 7200u with the HD 620 (it's equivalent to a lower-end PC graphics card from like 2014) and it runs Payday like absolute shit. Grey can't run it at all on his own Laptop.

Here's my guide for determining whether or not a laptop will be able to run the game:

1: Was it released no earlier than 2013?
2: Was it expensive ($700 range) at release?
3: Does it have a dedicated graphics card (can find that in your laptop specs. Message me if you can't figure it out on your own)? What model is it? What model is the processor?
4: Does it have more than 4 (dedicated) or 6 (integrated potato) gigs of RAM?
5: Does it have a fast hard drive? Some games will suffer a big performance dip from not being able to load in textures and such on time.

The farther up the scale it fails, the less likely it is to run Payday 2 (or any other game, for that matter) well.

@Loopy Whoever said that the HD 3000 series would run Payday 2 well must have been fucking high when they said that. You definitely need the HD 520 at minimum to run it at anything more than absolute 1999 potato.

Well, here's the name of my laptop: HP Pavilion dv9700 Entertainment Notebook PC series and it came with Windows 10. It has Intel HD graphics 5500 (but I don't know if this is the graphic card or whatever).

Since there are too many different DV9700s for me to effectively find which one you have, here's how you can find out the processor and graphics card of your system:

CPU: Control Panel > System and Security > View Amount of RAM and processor speed > processor

(I also want to know how much RAM you have)

Graphics Card: Go to the search bar and look up "dxdiag". click on the result with the blue circle that has a yellow x. You'll be looking for "Display X". Depending on how many GPUs you have your system, you'll have between one or two. One means you only have the HD 5500, which, while it isn't MUCH worse than the HD 520, will struggle a little more at running games. IF it has two, find the Display Tab that shows the "name" as being something other than HD Graphics 5500.

(I have multiple display tabs in this case as I'm running two of the same graphics card)

Oof.. That sucks. You have an atrocious amount of RAM. As I said, you'd want at least 6GB of RAM to go with integrated graphics, which is what you have.

This is the cheapest 8GB set I found on Newegg. I'd recommend upgrading that RAM. I couldn't find any reliable-looking sellers on Amazon, but if you want to buy off there, go right ahead. YMMV on how well the item quality is on arrival, though.

:katghost:

Well shit. Guess Payday is out until I get my hands on that set lol.

What determines if you can run Payday 2 is not the recommend specs.

Not if you can run the demo surprisngly.

It's if you can run:

Car Shop
Golden Grin Casino (after bagging loot)
Diamond Store (after bagging loot and tieing civilains)
Safe House after getting all the trophies.
